n a bold move that caught her critics by surprise, President Arroyo lifted the state of emergency she declared on February 25th. Traffic flows smoothly along EDSA once again as MRT trains pass overheadThe military acted decisively first showing their solidarity behind the president and then quickly rounding up those who sought to overthrow the government.

As evidence begins to mount, it is becoming apparent that those behind this power-grab had no qualms soliciting the support of the Communist New People's Army, or the Marcos and Estrada power-brokers who would then be given carte blanche to loot the treasury once again had this latest grab for power been successful. The unlikely assortment of bedfellows that made up the coup plotters proves beyond a doubt that the only philosophy these folks practice is the lust for power in order to plunder the economy and enrich themselves--quickly!

Opposition-funded groups continue sporadic demonstrationsAs the country returns to normalcy with the economy and peso rebounding, overseas Filipinos expect President Arroyo to prosecute to the fullest, those behind this latest attempt to overthrow the government. This time, we expect the gloves to come off. Everyone must understand that those who want to destabilize the Philippines are not only jeopardizing its future, they are also destroying the hopes and dreams of Filipinos everywhere. For this, as well as for the sake of future generations of Filipinos, they must be stopped.
