Chief Justice Corona forget the favor you got from GMA. For the sake of our country let Pnoy uproot the corruption that consumed our country. Let this start from you.. Quite ka na lang. Let Pnoy go after all these corrupt public officials from Ombudsman Gutierrez to all GMA appointed Justices and all GMA ex-public officials.

We have read so much damaging report about how GMA and Corona conspired resulting to so much abuse and mismanagement of the Republic. First, judging from what we read about the charges and possibly evidences, Corona has no chance to escape this unless some Senators who hate Pres Aquino would betray their country in exchange for their emotion. Second in case the improbable happens and Corona is exonerated, public opinion cannot be swayed back in favor of him because the Filipinos have already seen and experienced his lack of character, lack of ethics and lack of intellect though he managed to obtain PhD from UST (still questionable).

Re: "Coronas' amassed 40 properties in 9 years." I do believe that if Justice Corona can't justify the legality or legitimacy of his questionable acquisition of properties, the Philippine Republic has a jurisdiction to confiscate his ill-gotten wealth for the common good. It seems that Justice Corona is engaged in shady dealing with different banks, which is akin to being a member of "the mafia king of banks in Italy." You can't create a transparent & good society without responsibility. A just judicial institution is also impossible without a jurist or judge being just & impartial. Please support the strong leadership of President Aquino for the dignity of future generation of Filipinos, & in order to attain a renewed public moral vision.

I am surprised with this Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) how "vigilant" they became in protecting Corona. They were too quite when the appointment was made by Arroyo for Corona as Chief Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court. Any 1st year law student (or any student for that matter) who have studied the Philippine Constitution knew it was made illegally by Arroyo. The IBP should know much better. Why? Scared of Corona or Arroyo at the time? Of course any lawyer with sense knew what and how legal practice is done in RP. Its always "don't rock the boat" is the order of the day.

For the best interest of justice in the Philippines, Corona should resign. The evidence which he claimed are "hoaxes", particularly in the graft and corruption case are overwhelming and embarrassing. It is not too late before these "hoaxes" the people now knew became facts. He can always do it in the middle of the trial. But why wait? His place in history is already assured as it is. It ain't really that bad anyway.

Read the editorial again pls.” Let me quote what I said “The PNL Editorial also concluded that CJ Corona’s acquisition Php 14.5 million cost of a condo with 3 parking slots is untrue BECAUSE “REAL ESTATE EXPERTS SAY IT IS WORTH SIGNIFICANTLY MORE THAN THAT.” With due respect, however, you have actually concluded that this property is worth more than Php14.5 Million. If you didn't mean it, then what did you mean? Why can’t you wait for the actual facts as may be established by the Senate Trial instead of relying from guesswork from unknown real estate experts?

BTW, Corona’s wife was appointed to a managerial position before his appointment to the SC. He will continue to twist the law to protect his ill-gotten wealth & continue to conspire with ambitious & corrupt politicians like Gloria Arroyo in order to destroy the Philippine Republic. Can someone explain why Corona is being investigated for a 14.5 million dollar condo when they say he declared in his SALN that his networth is only 13.? million? That with his salary this is not possible? Then try to explaining this ---> LINK This is Pnoy's SALN's from 1998 to 2010. Figure out how from 2009 to 2010 his networth jumped from 15,440,268 pesos in 2009 to 54,999,370 in Dec. 2010? I mean I know the salary of a President is just somewhere around 54,000 to 58,000 pesos BUT that's a difference of 39,559,102 pesos. This is how it jumped up as soon as he became President.

A trial of a chief justice of SC is really a historic one. Only with PNoy! I admire PNoy for his courageous effort to remove all corrupt allies of GMA. As Corona said, he prefers to be killed rather than to quit. It's because of pride and what happened to him is not ordinary. As he accepts the midnight appointment he's not aware of this to happen - sure. He never thought that there's a man who's born honest and sincere to topple the abusive ones. Now, let's be thankful for this kind of administration. For those who are defending GMA, THINK!

Tonyo; the news says that a Senator-judge will based his decision on the trial of CJ Corona on the “opinion” of the people and not necessarily on the evidence. If this is true; is the reaction of the people factored into the rule of law in the Philippines and evidence can be ignored by the judge? Example ko: several of my relatives who live up in the mountain don’t know what’s going on. If someone of authority tells them CJ Corona is bad, most likely they would say, “If you said so” (that’s their opinion). With this scenario, it can be said that opinion of the people should not be validated into the rule of law. Also, the defense could argue for a defective procedure due to pre-empting decision of the said Senator-judge. I see this proceeding as “patas”, pru talo ang mga mahirap.

Be careful what you wish for....removal of any SC judge is a very significant issue. Yet PNL and rest of Filipinos all seem so very eager to get rid of the SC and have the President nominate his own. In the entire 236 years of the United States...only 1 judge has ever been removed. I suspect every Filipino is just so overwhelmed with corruption...you cannot see when another scam is being pulled on you. Remember that Joseph Estrada received 8 million votes from Filipinos after he stole 200 Million dollars. The Philippines have a very poor track record at voting into power the best people. I think you have just repeated the same mistake and refuse to admit it....and support blindly all his mandates.

In my one aluminum centavo worth of opinion, out of eight (8) complaints, Corona's head may be able to evade four (4) of the axes. But he can not depend the other four even just at Plaza Miranda. He may have the "best" heavy hitting private law firms in his corner to try to mend the cut but they can not stop the bleeding. The cut is just too massive, particularly the graft and corruption complaint; it is heavyweight cut. If Corona are paying them, he might as well save the money after his release (from the can). Pinoys will not stop at his removal from the SC. It will be derecho na.

In the United States, it is a customary practice that candidates to the Supreme Court (and other appointive positions made by the president) are carefully vetted before their names are submitted to Congress for approval. Corona was given a VIP treatment. The reason this is being done is to determine if candidates have skeletons hidden in their closets. In the course of the impeachment process, people are beginning to learn that there is a graveyard (A Memorial Park) in Corona's closet!

Impeachment is an embarrassing and humiliating experience. It would tear his heart apart and melt his neurons. Remember Angie Reyes experience in Congress? From the words of PNL, Corona is "a damaged goods." The country has "no return" policy for impeached justices but only for elective positions. I would not be surprised if Tony0 advises Corona to fight it out because the law is on Corona’s side!

As I posted a long, long time ago in this forum, the seemingly unexplainable wealth of government officials, elective or otherwise and other employees can be easily explained if they only copy what Mayor Antonio Villegas did. Villegas was reported under investigation for unexplained wealth. Then the unexpected surfaced; the rumor that he (Villegas) actually "won" two or three times the sweepstakes jackpots became facts. End of the investigation; so the story goes. Hey, you never know! Corona may have won the lotto, too, considering that the sweepstakes jackpot was only in the P100 thousands, whereas the current lotto went up to P800 millions! He (Corona) might just too modest to let the public know of his luck.

Justice Corona's lawyers may argue that the impeachment process is illigitimate, but clearly, every Filipino citizen will not agree that the grounds for impeachments don't exist, & if they exist the Senate has a duty to justify the result based on evidence. Of course, Justice Corona has a right to invoke 'procedural process of law,' but the Philippine Republic is also concerned with the substance of the law. Systemic corruption has already sapped the strength of the Philippine Republic, it is only just & right to punish every partial jurist or corrupt public servant, in order "to prevent the government being swamped with incompetence."

Ariel Pacibe of Alberta: You said "the impeachment is all about Hacienda Luisita". No buddy. In fact when the SC decided to divide the Hacienda to claimant-farmers, it was probably a ploy by Corona to divert the attention of the people from the impending impeachment which he must have "naamuyan." I said it was a ploy because it is a big mistake to divide the Hacienda. Check this out: The farmer-claimants numbered 5,000+; the Hacienda is 6,000+ hectares (there are reports that subject to distribution is only 4,000+ hectares). Taking the 6000 hectares to be divided to 5000 claimants, each would get (assuming equally) just a little over 1 hectare. What can a farmer produce in a hectare? Or what can he do with it? If it is in the heart of Metro Manila may be but in the boondocks?

It's a long & winding road before we can come up with the final verdict about the trial of CJ Corona. It will take a while to letigate this case. This is strictly hypothetical...what would happen if by a chance or luck, the senate acquits CJ Corona with just 14 votes? What would Pres. Aquino do then? It's not a foregone conclusion that a guilty verdict is assured. He claims that he has only 5 properties & not 45. According to him, some of the properties including his in-laws were included on the list in his so called ill-gotten wealth. If the accusations of the senate are not verified facts, then, they have problems to prove them. Abangan.

This guy does not know (I hope he is not a lawyer, that's why) what he is talking about that "the removal of Corona his Aquino's legal quagmire". Without the list of nominees from the Bar Council, the SC "sitting en banc" situation without the CJ is well provided and remedied in Sec 4, paragraph 1 of Art. VIII viz: "The SC may SIT EN BANC or in its DISCRETION in divisions of 3, 5 or 7 members. You see, the SC can always do business any which way with or without CJ. After all, the president has 90 days to fill the vacancy. The Bar Council has ample time to prepare a list of nominees. You understand now Section 4, paragraph 1?

One of the Articles in the impeachment is that "Corona committed graft and corruption" or something like that. The condo is only one of the evidence supporting that article of impeachment. The Condo is not the charges; it is one of the fruits of his alleged corrupt practices. There could be more fruits, not only the condo. After all, any documents will have to be submitted/presented to the Court to be admitted as evidence. In this case the condo documents. The defense may object to the admissibility of the documents of the condo but not until then (submitted to be registered as evidence by the prosecution).

Justice Corona's "overt partiality towards former president Arroyo, now a congresswoman under hospital arrest, is where corruption & evil have clustered. Justice Corona's incapacity to adhere to supreme effort to do good is a tragic disloyalty to loyalty; he can't invoke judicial excellence as a virtue of justice. The Filipino people have a right to oppose "men's blindness in their loyalty." Even a humble side-walk vendor, or "the humblest member of any society can be morally equal in the simplication of loyalty." An impartial jurist can "speak the truth to his fellow brethren or any man if he has no eye to see & no tongue to speak; his loyalty is to loyalty: the supreme effort to do good." Moreover, only man's capacity for justice will create a genuine & stronger democratic institution.

tonyO: You must know by now that the Senate deny the motion of Corona for a preliminary hearing. During that hearing, he could have quashed the admissibility of the evidence such as the documents of the condo but unfortunately for him. His next chance is when the prosecution will submit the documents to the Court in the course of the trial. As I said in my previous entry, the defense could object the admissibility. They have to give the Court a very good reason not to admit it as evidence supporting the complaint of graft and corruption.

Mockingmaya opine; “Corona's ill-gotten wealth must be returned to the Filipino people: to build modern public schools & libraries”. A very warm feeling wish and I agree, but PNoy war cry is; “kung walang corrupt walang mahirap”, however, the truth of the matter is; more mahirap now than before, kasi, maraming corrupt ngayon, ibig sabihin d ba? Kaya ang ill-gotten wealth galling K Corona pupunta ‘yan k Lolong na c Juan magnanakaw. Kaya Mockingmaya palagay ko mahirap mo ipalaliwanag k Tonyo at 1UP ang panaginip mong ‘yan! Hik hik hik. MABUHAY PHILIPPINES na lang tayo!

Supreme court held hostage by Corona. He’s not afraid to die he said. Death is the only way for him to be out of SC. What if the judge-senators has made the decision to convict him? Will anybody please get a rope and tie his neck to a dump truck to pull him out of that building. Tsk tsk..

After the Impeachment charade, does anyone have the best guess if there would be any “bigas” left for the Filipino people to cook? It seems that everyone is glued to their TV: “the planting rice is no fun” folks not planting rice, tourist scared of being coned by the crook taxi drivers, foreign investors wondering what’s happening, even myself glued to my TV, not going fishing coz I’m guessing who’s going to throw the first knockout punch. In other words this charade of the government will definitely ruin the economy and the innocent people will suffer. At the end, it won’t be any fun for the economy of the Philippines “stupid”.

I really don't like to join this discussion with one sided opinions. Every time I read the topic of arguments it is always one-sided. Sorry for my opinion but this is how I see it. This is a government newspaper that doesn't really give good result to our very poor nation. I don't think the Philnews will publish this, but that's the way it is. Sorry for my opinion.

To TonyO - I was not lamenting anything. I have long considered the Philippines a toilet case. I just pointed out the obvious partisanship of the supposedly holy bishops on a matter that has nothing to do with religion. If even the supposedly Pius Bishops engage in Politicking as they are doing then what other institution is there to look up to and hope for? I am just an outsider looking in. Of course you may not be seeing it this way if you live in the Philippines and wallowing in filth and corruption everyday. You may have gotten used to it.

Justice Corona's lawyers (Justice Cuevas, Atty. Jimeno & others) must understand that the Constitution speaks not merely to Supreme Court justices or lower courts' judges, but rather to all branches of the government, & of course, ultimately to the Filipino people themselves. Even Justice Corona is required to follow the laws laid down by a separate branch, or congress. If Justice Corona committed tax evasion, ill-gotten wealth, bribery & plunder statutes, the Ombudsman has a jurisdiction to file criminal charges against him. Justice Corona's conviction in a court of law could result in automatic forfeiture of judicial office & a possible jail time. The Filipino people must consider the impeachment & trial of Justice Corona as a seminar in constitutionalism in action.

Cebuanos and the Chamoros are linked linguistically look at the name for Post in Chamoro it is HALIGI in Cebuano it is also HALIGI, in Chamoro aka Guam ALHO in Cebuano it is also ALHO. CEBUANO AND CHAMOROS HAVE SIMILAR TRAIT LADRONES y ASESINAS.

When a tourist comes to Hawaii; he/she is greeted with a warm ALOHA, embarking on a tourist bus greeted with ALOHA, going to a luau for a dinner and show greeted with ALOHA, and so on. Therefore, get it from the top tourist destination in the world, be original, unique in many ways, people friendly, and of course got to have what is there for the tourist to enjoy. MABUHAY is very original and unique. Most “tourist” going to the country are Filipinos anyway, and I think MABUHAY is the perfect greeting for them. Go “MABUHAY PHILIPPINES
