Name: mockingmaya CommentsI do believe that the impeachment, conviction & removal of Justice Corona from the bench will make Philippine democracy one of the most transparent, genuine & strong democratic institutions in the world. But the Senate's vote to acquit Justice Corona despite the hard evidences that he violated established judicial norms is tantamount to approving a brand of Justice Corona's judicial independence or judicial philosophy: criminal activity, treason & betrayal of public trust (tax evasion, plunder, conspiracy to commit fraud, acquisition of ill-gotten wealth, etc) are not grounds or litmus tests for judicial impeachment & conviction. Name: jojo
de leon CommentsIf corona is convicted, it is only proper to file graft and corruption charges against him, also possible plunder due to WB loan which is a loan guaranteed by the sovereign people of the Philippines. Name: meg CommentsThe public officials' rank and file from top to bottom should submit SALN to clearly show if they are accumulating ill gotten wealth. This rule should be strictly adhered to and monitored. A House Committee could be designated to oversee the submission of SALN, dissecting them, and filing of cases for those who acquired ill gotten wealth. Names of public officials who betray public trust should be released to the media. Name: USbornPinoy CommentsComments on the SJ trial is waste of energy. Watching the prosecuting team in action on day one showed the world how, inept and incompetent what should be the Philippines' "A-team." This trial is nothing more than grandstanding and a dog and pony show for the current administration to look like it is trying to be affective. Look at Aquino's past performance as a Senator, are you really expecting anything more? I am almost sure that both the SJ and former Pres Arroyo will receive no more than a gentle slap on the wrist after all is said and done. Name: gilgads CommentsTo CJ Renato Corona:Pls. for the sake of truth and justice VACATE the Supreme Court now..you are a big disgrace to the Pilipino people Name: As I See It CommentsARIEL PACIBE put it in a nutshell, "this impeachment is all about the HACIENDA LUISITA, no more no less." You bet, it is as clear as the sunny blue sky here in San Diego. And if I may add the vindictive PNoy regime instead of crucifying Corona should mobilize his political pitbulls and yellow mobsters to go to Ilocos Norte and once again castigate the dead body of the writer of Presidential Decree #27. Daang Matuwid is only a bluff, a political deception! Name: GFJBHEDF CommentsAs far as CJ Corona is concerned, come what may, + or -, He'll be fine. If +, his critics will be there. If -, his critics will be there. Either way, we'll also be there to lend credence where credit is due. LINK Name:
tonyO CommentsBlitz Marlon Berg, hey Blitz you’re inconsistent. You said and I quote “I believe the rule of law will prevail.” Yet you contended that CJ Corona’s acceptance of his appointment is unconstitutional and that the appointment of Mrs. Corona to a managerial position was purportedly unlawful. I bet you cannot state what laws were violated by the said appointments. Name: tonyO CommentsVanessa Lee said “There are 2 articles in the Impeachment of CJ Corona which I believe will pin him down: Partiality and subservience in cases involving Arroyo and the issuance of TRO granting GMA to go to Singapore to evade arrest…” Ms. Lee, foremost, the Hold Departure Order called Watch List Order (WLO) issued by the DOJ to prevent GMA’s travel abroad was null and void because there was no criminal case against GMA to warrant its issuance. A null and void WLO cannot prevent the issuance of the said TRO. Rather, it justified issuance of the TRO. Moreover, the SC is a collegial body and rules on majority votes. CJ Corona has only 1 vote. If these are the strongest arguments for Corona’s impeachment, expect that he’ll be acquitted by the Senate Trial Court. Name: tonyO CommentsMockingmaya said “The Filipino people have a right to put Justice Corona behind bars.” Hey pipit, Impeachment is only for the removal from Office of the public official. What law are you reading? Name: tonyO CommentsDuring the opening statement in the Impeachment Trial of former SC Justice Serafin Cuevas, counsel for CJ Corona, he contended that there was no notice and hearing made by the House of Representatives in favor of CJ Corona, hence, he was impeached in violation of his basic Constitutional right that no person shall be deprived of his life, liberty or property without the due process of law. Thus, the Articles of Impeachment is null and void, hence, ineffective. No objection has been interposed by the Prosecution. So, this is admitted as part of the records of the case. What will the Senate Trial Court do with this illegality comes judgment time? Trash the whole case, of course. Name: tonyO CommentsPhreng Deo said “I would be the first person to scream "sunugin" this Land Registration Agency, Title Transfer Office and others if they "manufactured" these documents to pin down Corona. What d'ya say tonyO?” Dre, out of 45 properties LRA alleged CJ Corona owns, Corona said he only owned 5 properties. The excess (40 properties) are conjured or fabricated by the Sanamagan, sanamabits LRA Head who issued the certification. Get ready to “sunugin” the LRA. You’ll be charged of the crime of ARSON, though. That’s what you get for your loose tongue hehehe. Moreover, it was reported that he studied at the Ateneo up to college and had his masteral at Harvard, Boston, Mass. He’s wealthy to afford these. What d'ya say Deo? Name: LPiF CommentstonyO: Do you acknowledge now that SC doesn't have any say on FINAL VERDICT of the impeachment? Name: Jacquiline Chui CommentsEveryone here shows as if they more intelligent and more honest that anyone. Funny! What a gullible people! Let me remind you that an ACCUSED is presume innocent unless proven in the court. Whatever written in the any news articles are not evidences. So why believe them? Isn't shows BOBOness of Filipinos?
Name: 1 UP CommentsMockingmaya concluded "if Justice Corona can't justify the legality or legitimacy of his questionable acquisition of properties." Corona's net worth in 1992 was P 15 million. How in heaven's name could that income grow to acquire just one property worth P 14 million and paid for it in cash? There are a dozen more properties whose market values have not been published. If the other properties were not paid in cash, they might have been a bribe. Come on! Do your math pal and be smarter than a fifth grader.
Name: 1 UP CommentsThe criminal justice system of the country is badly broken; so it must be fixed as logic dictates. This administration of BS Aquino went after Maldita Gutierrez of the Office of the Ombudsman. Gutierrez was forced to give up the fight. Now, this matter of going after Renegade Corona is the next chapter in the book of getting rid of corrupt and impartial justices and judges. This is one "spring cleaning" I'd love to see completed. Name:
1 UP CommentsThe Supreme Court is going above the board. It exempts itself from the midnight appointee principle. It exempts itself from the filing of SALN. When the net worth of judges and justices have grown exponentially, it raises red flags that a lot of bribery is going on. Where is the BIR? Many say it is living up to its name as "Bigay Ikaw Regalo" Name: As I
See It CommentsIN THE NEWS! On the 2nd day of impeachment, the prosecution panel is unprepared, asks for postponement! I bet these lapdogs of KUMANDER WANGWANG are still fishing for evidence. And it looks like while on the process of fishing for valid evidence these pit bulls (who have already eaten pork belly & fats) are groping in the dark. Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRe: Corona Trial -- The Senate has decided in the first hearing that the Impeachment filed against CJ Corona is valid..Of course, they have to.. the Lower house is not subject to the supervision of the Senate.. Thus all the dilatory tactic of Judge Cuevas to Conduct a preliminary Hearing was denied and the Senate Proceeds to the Trial..I seriously don't know how Corona can survive the Articles of Impeachment , the most serious accusations of course are are acquisition of Real Estate Properties way beyond his declared income as stated in his SALN (statement of Assets Liabilities & Networth) Hindi ako magnanakaw.. He said to the Press Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRE: Corona's Downfall.. The problem of R. Corona actually started when he accepted the appointment of Chief Justice knowing that a reading of the Constitution states during that time GMA should have quit appointing Constitutional Positions which rightly belongs to the incoming President.. Now he is unmasked as more of a Real Estate Investor than an erudite Justice...Mr. Corona be realistic you can't fight the President who was elected by a landslide against your midnight appointment. Ipinilit mo naman ang sarili mo. Name: mockingmaya CommentsThe "Constitution is primarily an instrument to distribute political power." Justice Corona can't monopolize power which is beyond the court's jurisdiction: congress control over the amending process, political question doctrine which falls within the president, or political branches, the power of governance allocated by the Constitution to affect substantial public policies, & so forth. Moreover, Justice Corona can't use the judicial system to enforce systemic political corruption in the name of constitutionalism or rule of law. Name:
Manuel C. Diaz CommentsJudging from Chief Justice Corona's pronouncement, would he do a "General Reyes"? Name: Talbog CommentsAfter many months of hyperbole media hype and muckraking - it came to this -- "Prosecution not ready to present evidence"!!! Either you have a case or you don't!! If they are not ready to present their evidence-- on what basis did those 180 something congressmen signed the impeachment paper? Nakakahiya!! Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRE : gebdf of Hercules"...201 Congressmen support the Impeachment..and...45,000 IBP members support Corona.. What kind of fallacy are you spreading.. if there are 45,000 members of the IBP not all of them or even half of them support Corona..Only the IBP Officials are supporting Corona and not the 45,000 members Name: KALI CommentsTsorabe says: “Chief Justice Corona forget the favor you got from GMA. For the sake of our country let Pnoy uproot the corruption that consumed our country. Let this start from you. Quite ka na lang. Let Pnoy go after all these corrupt public officials from Ombudsman Gutierrez to all GMA appointed Justices and all GMA ex-public officials.” …… My question to you is since GMA is in jail, is corruption less now than before and what about the corrupt people and murderers who were already charged, what happened to them? The truth is more people are “mahirap” now, due to more corruption now. Remember, ”kung walang corrupt walang mahirap.” “It’s the economy, student” is the correct approach to PHL ills.
Name: GFJBHEDF CommentsThe proliferated 8 articles of mass distraction, hastily crafted by lower house P'Noy minions, lampooned on CJ Corona, is a Bush-whacker dud. Each will be taken apart surgically, piece by piece; each their hot air contents t'will be exposed, despite P'Noy's go-fer prosecutors attempts to stop it. Like P'Noy admonished, keep your rabbit ears glued to the impeachment shenanigans, with a bias pro P'Noy mind. Name: KALI CommentsPhil Researcher: “RE: Blogger Ton-yo-- There is a blogger here identified as ton-yo who believes that the Certification of the LRA-(Land Registration Authority) headed by Eulalio Diaz III are all untrue and fabricated. Mr. Ton-yo before an Official of any Government entity certify a document as true and correct it is signed with the possibility that if it is false they can be sued for perjury or falsification of a public document”. EZ lang phre, haven’t you heard that “kahit patay bumobuto pag election”, ikaw naman parang bago lang sa kalokohan ng mga masamang Pinoy. My family in Iloilo lost 8 hectares to a lawyer who was good in deception. A page of record was torn and nobody from LRA accept responsibility. Sanamagan, sanamabits ang kasamaan ay walang hangganan. “MABUHAY”ang LA! Name: mockingmaya CommentsThe Corona's Supreme Court reminds me of a scholar's attack on the high bench: "The money power now dominates...department of justice, even to the Supreme bench. It is not possible for a poor man to get into the Supreme Court. It is omnipotent & answerable to nobody...Under the laws of the land the rich are always right, the poor are always wrong (Please see H. Morris, "Waiting for the Signal.") The Filipino people must be willing to defend their fundamental rights against the evil of a politicized Arroyo-Corona Supreme Court.
Name: mockingmaya CommentsThose who defend Justice Corona in the Senate trial will continue to dictate & insult the impeachment process by portraying it as a mathematical trial akin to the "ancient logic of justices programmed to respond only to legal formulas." It seems that Corona's lawyers are obstructionists, who are willing to place their ideological preferences & outmoded norms of judicial reasoning ahead of the public interests. Again, the Constitution is the Filipino people (We, The Filipino People), not We, The Supreme Court Justices.
Name: As I See It Comments1 of 3 : CJ Corona divulged that the 3 co-conspirators in ousting him - PNoy, aka Kumander WANGWANG, Mar Roxas, and Antonio Carpio. I am inclined to think this is the real scenario that has transpired in the previous months! As we know it PNoy has a gnashing teeth and an ax to grind against the Chief Justice ever-since the trashing away of politically motivated 'Truth Com' which contradicts 'equal protection' clause, the subsequent ruling on SMC shares declaring Danding Cojuangco (uncle of Wang)...continued Name:
As I See It Comments2 of 3: as the real owner! PNoy's motion for re-consideration on the said case was trounced once again by Danding's lawyers led by Estelito Mendoza. Then there was this long running battle of farmers-beneficiaries who were de-prived for several decades of their rights based on PD#27 against the well-entrenched & powerful Aquino-Cojuangco oligarchs who want to perpetuate their clout and strangle-hold of the more than 6,000 h.a. The resounding defeat of the oligarchs has solidified his blind ire on Corona when in fact it was 14-0 unanimous collective decision!...continued. Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRE: The Corona Trial--Considering that he is not going to resign then everything will be opened to the public during this trial..CJ Corona claims of the 45 listed he only owns 5.. Of course through direct testimony, he might have to swallow his statements.. the TCTs are registered and numbered TCTs are Transfer Certificates of Title.. This guy is really naive for believing that he won't be unmasked as a charlatan. Even Congressman Mickey Arroyo had to hide his title to property in the name of a Corporation (See Youtube with Prof. Winnie Monsod unmasking Actor Mickey as a fraud)..3 titles of property are located in La Vista Q.C...If you go there you'd be shocked how many Congressmen , senators etc. live in La Vista.
Name: As I See It Comments3 of 3: PNoy who was once an ardent supporter of GMA (together w/ his mom) during '04 pres election re-ignited his ire on the latter's touching of Hacienda and once again tested the CJ through his lawyers filing one after another G&C cases! But the TRO issued was a collective decision! Mar Roxas whose ego was badly hurt by his defeat to Binay wanted a favorable ruling by the said SC in his protest vs. Binay but again the body decides collectively! Carpio is just too ambitious and in a hurry to replace Corona that he almost forgot it is still a RULE OF LAW to follow in a COLLECTIVE decision. An assault to CJ is an assault to an independent body collectively! Democracy is in peril! Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRE Senator/Judges of the Corona Impeachment--Some of the Senator/ Judges are seeking reelection in 2013..Thus these Senators are aware that the electorate appears to be happy with the current President PNoy.. so they are going play this impeachment so that they won't damage their re-election chances next year..Pnoy has a very high approval rating because he has not abused his power... Whereas the CJ who was appointed in the last days of GMA's regime appears to have accumulated high end real estate properties way way beyond his income as a Chief Justice.
Name: The Chief CommentsAmen. Mr. Corona said Only death can remove him from the Supreme Court. It is far best for him to take his own life. Otherwise, it'll a martyr in the making. Let us all wait for the result of the impeachment trial.
Name: Talokbong CommentsOnly the CPP will benefit the ongoing corruption case of GMA, Palparan Criminal case, Impeachment case of CJ Corona and the AFP corruption case. Let's admit it the CPP is more than happy of what is happening in the Philippines. Their leftist protesters are poisoning the minds of the masses. Politically, CPP is now well represented in the Lower House with the likes of Bayan Muna, et aL. The Blog, though, showed that the corresponding creditable withholding tax and documentary stamp tax thereon have been duly paid, based on its selling price or zonal value, which ever is higher. UNDER THE TAX LAW THE SAID VALUATION IS “CONCLUSIVE.” Are you happy now? Who is Raissa Robles to conclude that this valuation is wrong? I suggest you clear your cobwebbed mind and think before you jump. Name: tonyO CommentsKALI said “Tonyo; the news says that a Senator-judge will based his decision on the trial of CJ Corona on the “opinion” of the people and not necessarily on the evidence.” Dre, this is inconsistent with the official stand of Senate President and Presiding Judge of the Impeachment Court, Juan Ponce Enrile, that CJ Corona will be adjudged pursuant to the DUE PROCESS OF LAW rather than on public opinion, which is the opinion of the YELLOW MOB @#^%$#@. This senator-judge is a sanamagan sanamabits. Nevertheless, if it happens, the judgment may be treated as grave exercise of discretion equivalent to lack of jurisdiction, hence, the Supreme Court may invoke its power of judicial discretion and reverse the illegal decision.
Name: tonyO CommentsDeo said “One of the Articles in the impeachment is that "Corona committed graft and corruption" or something like that. The condo is only one of the evidence supporting that article of impeachment…” Dre, the charged of graft and corruption is specious unless supported by specific act/s of the offense. CJ Corona said this condo has been reported in his SALN. The Prosecutors have not as yet seen his SALN. How in hell did they conclude that he purportedly committed graft and corruption re the acquisition of this property? What’s wrong with his SALN? Nothing. Nada at the moment. And you- what’s your basis?
Name: tonyO CommentsNaty castigated CJ Corona with her “To Corona, sagutin na lang ang tanong huwag na syang magdrama na parang bang gusto nyang manalo ng best actor...” Ms Naty, what about the Prosecutors’ premature and illegal press conference on evidence at walang katingiltingil mga banat vs CJ Corona? Penoy even said “solid” kuno ang evidence vs Corona while sa opening statement pa lamang ni Ex Justice Serafin Cuevas, he already disclosed that the CJ Corona was not afforded NOTICE AND HEARING hence, he was impeached without the DUE PROCESS OF LAW. He was deprived of his Constitutional right that “NO PERSON SHALL BE DEPRIVED OF LIFE, LIBERTY OR PROPERTY WITHOUT THE DUE PROCESS OF LAW. Hence, the Articles of Impeachment is null and void and ineffective. My dinner, including pre dinner soup and salad Was cheap $6.95 + tax. No wonder it was packed. I caught on right away. The restaurant makes little per capita, but does it with the shear volume of customers. I'll be back. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I looked through Jolly Bee's wide front window, and saw only 3 customers eating.
