Name: Robert CommentsAs I said before, the next president does not need to travel overseas to "beg" foreign investors to come to the Philippines... he needs only to show and commit himself to rid the Philippines of corruption. If he is really serious about putting a stop to corruption, businessmen from all over the globe will notice that and will come and invest. Solve the domestic problem and everything else will fall in place without much effort of spending a large amount of money to entice the investors. Looks like our new President is doing just that.. keep up the good work, Mr. President! Name: Phil Researcher CommentsRE: Excessive Importation of Rice--It was shown on TV- Patrol that there were hundreds of sacks of rice with the importation date of 2008. Obviously, some people in the DFA were not doing their jobs.. There are just so many Filipinos in the Metro Manila area alone who could have gotten these rice before it became infested by bugs.. There is so much waste because (some) members of the GMA administration were not paying attention. GMA I guess was concentrating on her next trip abroad and which expensive restaurant to go. Mickey Arroyo as a member of the GMA family the Filipinos did not expect your mom to bring her entourage to McDonald's however $25,000 for one meal is still excessive and outrageous. Name: Butch Coyoca CommentsPresident Aquino gets it. Passionate in making the Philippines a better place. He is trying and will try harder to succeed for the country and people. If he fails it won't be just like the others who tried before him. Who pretended. Da Man cares. He seems to be honest and above all, humble. Name: Dragonslayer CommentsMr. President, if we can dream again, can we also have 3 square meals a day and have fun, too. How about improving public service for a change? And updating textbooks in schools and universities so we can produce college graduates and scholars to work at home and not just to venture abroad with no chance of getting jobs that match their real degree of achievements? At this time, as far as most foreign employers are concerned, PI education is below accepted standards world-wide. If you know what I mean. Name: LLOYD ANTHONY CommentsPhilippine government needs to audit all its employee from janitor to the president before allowing them inside the government. The financial standing from their assets and to document how they accumulated their wealth. This is the only way we can monitor the corruption in government. A total turnaround without mercy. Prosecute to the full extent of the law. Our country has a president now who can make these changes and he has the support of the Pilipino people. We pray to God to support us and the president to implement the change. Name: WDC CommentsWhat has anything to do about praying rosaries to our country's problems? Why don't you keep your beliefs private and discuss in public what is now going on in our country, the Philippines. There are a lot of hidden agendas that Noynoy can explain to our people, if I pray the rosary this is between me in my God, and not anybody's business. This is the problem with us Filipinos, we like to put our noses where they are not suppose to be. Name: As I see it CommentsP-Noy has created "Truth Commission." Wow! I am hoping this 'truth commission' is really true in the truest sense of the word. That its true objective and agenda is to ferret out what is the truth of what it is investigating, or else it would be another zarzuela in the making! And that whatever is the FACT it has obtained should be furnished to the 3 branches of the government - namely executive, legislative, and judiciary as well as the media. Hoping that the president has the balls (political will) to execute what is necessary and just, and that the SC will turn the wheels of justice with a strong, objective and fair hand to those guilty or not guilty, rendering the verdict in a firm but swift manner. Name: ONE UP CommentsSeveral days I go, I said that the the Philippines was over-populated but the old decadent man form Rochester, NY disputed the claim and said, "not yet." Of course he makes his opinion stronger than facts and he publicly admits he does not Google or use a search engine to support his claim. He is not even aware that Manila has a population of 1.7 million in a land area of 15 sq. miles or 112,000 people / sq mile. Going to QC he has no idea that 42,000 people in one sq mile of land. If he does not trust my numbers, does he have one? Do shantytown communities no longer viewed as over-population? Not from a man with AD (Alzheimer's in Diapers). Their model of the Universe was Aristotelian and Ptolemaic. In other word the belief of the Roman Catholic Church was that the Earth was flat and everything--the Sun, the planets, the stars, revolved around the Earth. Name: Adrian Aguila CommentsI'm so disheartened to hear that Senators are now fighting to get chairmanship of such and such committee for power and big allowances. Also those board members of MWSS and other government bureaus getting big allowances aside from their regular salaries. It's like they're milking these gov't offices instead of spending the money on the improvement of it's facilities. Why not Pres. Aquino cancel all those big allowances and reduce those big salaries and see if who are willing to serve our country honestly. As I said it was more or less used by the people as identification card/paper. In fact, until now it is use side-by-side with photo driver licenses and SSS card, too(?) as I.D. Name: Rufinol CommentsNow, I agree with Excelsis Deo. The Truth Commission is not duplicating the functions of the Ombudsman nor the Justice Department. Contrary to the pronouncement of Senator Joker Arroyo, this Commission will flourish to find the truth, to gather the facts and hard evidence, and forward their findings to the slow-moving Ombudsman and the Philippines courts. Without this Truth Commission, the Filipinos will never know the real truth. I support the effort of this new President. He may NOT BE THAT INTELLECTUAL, the likes of the MARCOS and the MACAPAGAL ARROYO. But, one thing the Filipinos shall beassured - HIS HEART is on the right place! Name: Rufinol CommentsThose who ridiculed the incumbent President Noynoy Aquino of being a whiner, know nothing, lazy worker, slow-doer, impotent and gay may soon find that despite their accusations - this man, Noynoy could be the answer to the Filipinos quest for an honest leader. At least, he fulfills many of his promises. Unlike the past president(s) who said or promised something and do exactly the opposite of what they had promised to deliver. In this new President - you get what you had expected, less brain but plenty of hearts. Walang wang-wang! Walang tongpats! If it is true, she must not have just opened her business, so there's more than just "being involved". Check this out: This illegal numbers' game (pinsan ng jueteng?) must be a common knowledge in the community so, then "some" in the authority must have deemed she is "untouchable" because of Pacquiao (although he is not involved). Of course over the "maboteng" usapan or else (if you know what I mean). There are many things to learn here like back stabbing, intrigue, and cheating and lying. I hope Cong Pacquaio would be very careful opening his mouth and uttering some few words, as they may hurt some sensitive personalities. If the raid conducted on his sisters "pasugalan" is the payback for Manny's unguided actions and words, I hope this raid opens Manny's mind that politics is entirely different from boxing which is his own world. As retirees we sold our house (kids gone) & now condo-dwellers. My garden now provides for 16 family owners in our condo-complex. I didn't spent much ($75) & now we're harvesting the fruits of my labor. Everybody's enjoying organic & pesticide-free vegetables. Our people in the Phils can do the same. The gov't has to provide free seeds & simple tools, barrio gardening seminars or clinic from graduates of U.P. Los Banos. Phil soil is very fertile & we have all the sunshine needed. From barrio to slum dwellers can grow these vegetables even in buckets or cans. It's a simple idea that's worth exploring. Davide an insider of the GMA gov't, grossly violated the age requirement for ambassadorial post; continue the gun ban to reduce crime; cops to stop mulcting in highways, city streets; appoint strong DENR chief to uproot squatters at Angat watershed at their own cost (to include our Masonic GM brother Ebdane-shame on you brother). It is the ONE UP who raised erroneous information about the above armed forces. I was straightening him. Apparently you were not aware of it. Got 'em? Name: Scholarslayer CommentsPros and cons expressed with hatred toward each other about God from both believers and non-believers in this forum definitely shows the shallowness of understanding on this subject. God should not be a subject for ridicule just because we don't agree. Believers, if really true, must refrain from portraying God as a threatening villain who plays favorite and will destroy non-believers without pity and with such infuriating impunity. If we are inclined to think that "God created man in his own image", would it also be possible that some of his "godly" attributes like love, forgiveness, mercy, common sense, etc., may have been bestowed on his "creation", too? Remember, whether it be water or fiery sulfur, when it rains it will fall on both believers and non-believers alike. Name: pinaskongmahal CommentsPINOYIII, you said corruption is costly to the gov't. What I'm concerned about now is these missiles may turn around and chase the launchers in stead. Don't forget, most of these missiles are surplus. Of course, the Kano don't trust giving cash 'Pinas to buy brand new ones. Name: Dragonslayer CommentsI am warning God-fearers and believers to STOP using the Lord as a subject for narrow and abusive encounters. Atheists, like believers, are people, too and their harmless position and philosophy on the subject must be respected. Like believers, atheists are normal creations or "evolvements" who contribute constructively to society and are also able to lead exemplary lives worthy of emulation. Atheism must not be a threat to believers nor must it denote negativism to anyone. Rather, it must serve as a starting point for believers to prove their claim that God is truly good. Name: Manuel C. Here it is> LINK Name: Dragonslayer CommentsJust what does the Lord meant by the phrase "vain repetitions"? Yet the key word is vain, not repetition. I don't think it's like the rosary's "Hail Mary full of grace, etc, where there is nothing vain. Repetition, maybe. By "vain" he may have been referring to the Pharisee in one one of his parables who prayed, "Lord, I am a good man who does not sin, pay my tithe and taxes, and I give alms to the needy. I am not like this sinful old man behind me who have nothing good to confess about himself." That is what "vain" is all about. Like what he said, again, in another parable: the first will be last, the last will be first. One who elevates himself will humbled; blessed are the poor in spirit. Good uses the humble to bring down the proud. You're smart enough to get my drift. Name: deo CommentsGFJBHEDF: You said and I quote "Jesus wants us to pray direct to God". Let me remind you, the Catholics, Protestants even the Muslims and Jews are unanimous that Mary the mother of Jesus survived Him. The obviousity is as clear as mud that Catholics believe Mary (not the girl next door) is "special" before& after the death of Jesse. After all if you believe that Jesse is something "special" the mother who bore Him must be "special", too, according to Catholics. That's why my logic of praying to Mary as a bridge to Jesse and Jehovah (as the Sabadista called Him) is as good as yours. You see, this is what's wrong with homo sapiens, particularly other than Catholics. They credit heavily children's love to their parents but not the love between Mary and Jesse. Name: deo CommentsPlaridel Joaquin: Re Pacquiao's claim God on his side in his fight. Don't forget the God of homo sapiens (Catholic, Protestant or otherwise) is a "vengeful" God. BTW, nanay Dionisia prays the Rosary, too before and during the fight, so it really spelled double trouble to Manny's opponents. hehehehe.
