Filipinos Salute Barack Obama and Wish Him All the Best

n a few hours Barack Obama will take his oath of office President Barack Obama standing by the Nation's Capitolas the 44th President of the United States. The first non-white to ever hold that office. The fulfillment of what Martin Luther King spoke about when on the 28 August 1963 he stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial and told the world "I have a dream."

For most Americans, this is the dawn of a new day. A time when America can once again regain its footing and lead the world in peace and prosperity. To paraphrase President Kennedy: the torch has once again been passed to a newer generation of Americans. The Obamas: Michelle, Malia Ann, Barack, and SashaAmericans who are ready and willing to face the future and see great opportunities in preserving the planet for future generations to enjoy.

Filipino-Americans, as well as Filipinos everywhere rejoice as Barack Obama, takes his oath of office. From Charise Pempengco who received a standing ovation for her rendition of 'God Bless America' in one of the pre-inaugural balls, to White house Chef Cristeta Comerford who will be preparing the first family's meals, we wish the new president 'all the best.'

Re: Natural Disasters in RP The last natural disaster was the typhoon Ondoy floods. The government was obviously not able to handle that one right. The disaster plan was inadequate. . People who survived were lucky not because the government helped them. Too much population not enough resources reserved for natural disasters. If another o ne hit RP... the Filipinos will pray that they will survive the government not a reliable resource to help the population.

Absolutely not. Chile is a bigger and richer country, and corruption level is not as horrendous as the Philippines. The Philippines has a long time political disaster that couldn't even handle by its own Government. How can the Philippines handle the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that Chile had? i wish these political beasts will be hit first if ever an earthquake comes in the Philippines!

As pointed out by PNL, the Philippines is way overpopulated, to which I totally agree. On the on-going debate about the need to get a birth control program put in place to slow down our population growth, the dumb bishops of the CBCP still insist that contraceptives are immoral. They also claim that the use of condoms encourages promiscuity and weakens the moral fiber of the youth. Nothing could be farther from the truth. What these moralizing bishops didn't say is that it is poverty brought about in part by overpopulation that weakens the moral fiber of our nation. Also, the hypocrisy among some bishops and priests, who keep mistresses and engage in pedophilia, is what drives many Catholics away from the Church.

Guam Jobs & Filipinos:

Background Checks on U.S. Citizens

It is well known that the government performs detailed background clearances on immigrants as part of the green card application process. However, what seems to be not as well known is that background checks are also performed on the petitioner in a family based petition. This means that in a marriage-based green card case...  MORE
