Another hope for the Philippines has risen.. Many think that its the start of new day, a new beginning for our beloved country. With the trust and support of the Filipino people to the newly elect President Noynoy we can go places. Everybody wants change and that will only happen if and only if we will do our share, not just P-Noy but each and everyone of us.

I'm optimistic about the new leadership in RP. I'll put aside Pres. Aquino's service record while a Senator and hope he'll make good on his promises now that he is the Head of State. I actually like the idea advanced by A. Pedraja of Canada about a dedicated direct line to the President's office for people to submit their concerns. If the Pres. is really serious, I think he should consider this.

First week of Pres. Aquino & what was accomplished so far? At least, no more wang-wangs & our traffic in MM is still a mess. Now he has do some serious work. Talk, talk & meeting, meeting. Others like it & others don't already. Now P.Noy the III will have to be selective & prioritize on what to do next. In his campaign ad that says.."hindi ka nagiisa" might soon be realized. So, let's support him. It's a matter now of the right team doing the right thing. At least he didn't start on the wrong foot. Sorry, I'm just being fastidious.

RE : Headline: Villar richest; Marcos, 4 Arroyos in wealthy list (Pinoy weekly).. This was the headline in the 6/19-25,2010 of a free newspaper you can get in many Filipino stores in LA County.. What is wrong with this headline.. Well at least for Villar he has a Real Estate business, whereas FM jr inherited those riches from the late dictator ; the 4 Arroyos are, Iggy, Brother of FG, "MIckey" remember him in that YouTube interview with Monsod and Claudio; Diosdado Arroyo & Rep Ma Lourdes Arroyo.. they don't appear to own a big business other than being in government

Noynoy may be a man of integrity (we can't charge him with 'malicious deeds'). But, his lack of experience also means lack of insight. Already, his emphasis on 'wang-wang' is a sign of a desire to have 'flashy' improvements rather than substantial initiatives with more fundamental, all encompassing long term effects. I do hope that he'll keep an open mind as he goes along. We need someone who thinks he's a servant who leads, not one who thinks he's a hero who should produce effects.

To ONE UP and Manuel Diaz: Just to mention to you that there are two uses for the penis. It is not just for Sex alone. Yes, some people might NOT use it anymore for sex if they lack the desire but it is also used to urinate. It's actual purpose is to urinate first because we as human beings drink plenty of fluids and we all have to dispose of excess fluid by urination. Sex (normally done as an act to procreation) is just secondary as a purpose of man to multiply by planting his seed.

Intellectual cranks like JuaUp will glorify the legacy of the Arroyo's regime: carnivorous democracy, where public men decay (misuse of power & human rights violation). Million Pinoys are living on an economic level hardly more comfortable & less secure than that of the cave men of thousand years ago. It's better for some Pinoys to be saved & well-fed like slaves by rich employers around the globe (globalization of Chimays or chimoys), with their families secure than to cling to a pseudo-democracy or freedom which leaves them upon the dark streets of Ermita & their children to grow up as beggars, & sell their freedom over a cup of noodle or tea. Arroyo is indeed a woman whom history will not be delighted to remember. She doesn't deserve to be recycled in the dustbin of history.

Some crackpot Pinoy politicians & judges under Arroyo's regime failed to end violence within the Constitution because didn't comprehend the Constitution unless it's the SC. President N. Aquino has the chance to invoke the "higher law" to bring back justice & freedom for the poor & the victims of Maguindanao massacres. It's high time to re-examine & reassess the principles of justice. Otherwise Pinoys will not escape the murderers, the corrupts, the rapists & the charlatans. There's a fundamental notion that government was created to serve men, & when government failed to serve men, it should be changed, democratically or peaceably, if possible, radically, if need be. A scholar once said that "if a great change is to take place, the minds of men will be fitted to it."

I do not understand why there are so many people (actually pro-PNoy) that are ga-ga about the new Prez' promise of going after GMA, as #1 priority. He claims he's doing this for "justice". I, of course, strongly believe that this is an act of vengeance on the part of P-Noy. He believes that he has to finish what his mother did not finish: Hacienda Luisita vs Agrarian Reform. Frankly, once and for all, I want GMA to answer all these allegations and, eventually, prove her innocence. Now, if P-Noy really wants to get all those that are allegedly guilty of "graft and corruption", why is he absolving the Marcoses, Villar, etc, if he is indeed for "justice"? Something smells fishy with P-Noy's move. I wonder who his advisers are: could be his sisters and the Cojuangco clan?

You even posted that the toll operators claim that they spent P11 billion to widen to four-lane highway from Alabang to ... which is very much longer than just a few good miles in length, why would they just try to recover P11 billion if your statistics says a mile/lane would cost P9 billion. If by conservative estimate the widen lane is more than say 6 Km. or about (4 miles) then they should be asking somewhere P44 billion (P11 billion x 4).

70,000 + nursing students took the most recent licensing exam. Many parents are so proud to have their children earned an RN degree but parents will be disappointed to find later on that their children will join the ranks of 187,000 nursing graduates without a job. Private and public hospitals are fully staffed and they will not even be able to provide the nursing training for recent graduates. We all know that experience is required before RN graduates qualify for overseas jobs. Recent RN graduates have to scale down their dreams and settle for caregiver jobs overseas.

Perhaps DepEd should close some nursing schools or encourage large nursing schools to incorporate and form medical training hospitals in partnership with other medical schools and even pharmaceutical companies (through endowments). The government must find a way to subsidize these training centers for at least 5 years until these training centers are viable enough. This kind of arrangement will bring medical care accessible and affordable to the poor.

They represent the top 1% income earners in the Philippines yet I rarely see the names of very rich people among the list of philanthropists. There was a time when Forbes magazine reported the following names as Philippines philanthropists: Alexandra Prieto-Romuladez of Philippine Daily Inquirer, Ricky Reyes of the famed beauty salon, Washington Sycip of Sycip Gorres and Velayo and George S.K. Rich people in the Philippines are more inclined to use their money supporting presidential candidates instead of supporting social causes, teaching institutions, hospitals, research efforts and other NGOs.

Although I don't agree with these (after all he is the president) changes, I became nostalgic to see him "disregards" his safety. There were times when Davao officials moved around without security escorts. In the 50s I used to met the mayor and ex-mayor of Davao City took his morning walk with out the usual bodyguards. Or the governor tending his garden along the road by himself. Even if Aquino will proved to be a well-meaning president, the above scenario will remained just things of the past.

Sen. Pangilinan if chosen Senate Pres. promised that the Senate would be independent & not subservient to Malacanang. WOW! I will not believe any of Mr. "NOTED" pronouncement bec. he was not a decent man when he was a member of the Electoral Tribunal in 2004 denying the opening of the contested election returns for fraud. A hard working public servant would do everything in his power to serve the interest of the country & its people & not his own party affiliation. Mr. Pangilinan, try not to fool Filipinos. Why not say to the country, "I AM SORRY" just like what Gloria Arroyo did.

Cory Aquino's yellow revolution is revived. We could see it right away. Within a week, Pres. Aquino set a simple example by not using his wangwang & siren on his SUV (ordinary plate) & In some strange way it worked. Now people are actually turning in these devices. Although he did not appear as the Commander-In-Chief, he acted like a marine (first on the shore, last to leave). He promised the Phil. Army that he will provide them all the things that they need. To me, all these are good signs. He might appear awkward but to our people it seems that it is working. Good Job, Pres. Aquino. After just one week it looks very promising..so far.

In the news: "Reporters Query On Sex Education Curtly Dismissed". I agree with the Education Secretary Luistro when he said "...Hindi nakakatulong ang medya". I believe Luistro is right. The media still has to show their clout. In five weeks(?) time four members were gunned down yet they can not make the authorities to move aggressively to arrest and convict the culprits. In other words if they are dog(s) who caught a burglar, they just bark but not finish the job by attacking the burglar. They media claimed they were the one who exposed the "Hello Garci". Well, we know the rest of the story. If they were gutsy to keep following up the case, Arroyo would not have lasted another six years.

There got to be a valid reason why Aquino remained unmarried until now. After all is said and done, Aquino may have also our philosophy when we were queried by our personnel manager (remember this title?) we back in the early 70s when our barkada at the time were all 'yebo' trenta: "mga hijos kailan ba ang long table?" which we answered, "sir, bakit kami magpapakain ng hindi namin kaano-ano?"

So what if Aquino did not take oath at exactly 12 noon? Taking the oath is the start of Noynoy’s crucifixion to save the Filipino people. Let us look at the crucifixion from a biblical standpoint (Mark 27:45, Mark 15: 33 and Luke 23:44) and the way the Jews and the Romans set their time clocks. Christ was crucified at noon when “ darkness spread over the land about noon lasting until 3” (To the Romans, noon is 12 hours after midnight; to the Jews, 6 hours after sunrise) If I know my Bible I would not dare take the oath at exactly noon time. THAT IS CRUCIFIXION! Hi hi hi I would not want my hands and my feet nailed to the cross. But the way Filipino people are behaving, they think Aquino is the "Messiah".(who will deliver them from the abuses of his predecessor)

The use of wangwang on his way to Malacanang or to any destination is advisable. His desire to walk his talk would seem futile if he allows himself to be a victim of an assassination. John F. Watching the July 4th celebration in Washington, DC and New York, on TV, gives me goose bumps. It is so patriotic. I think this is one day when all Americans are united and proud to be an American. The fireworks displays are just awesome! And this brings back so many beautiful memories of our stay in the Nation's Capital, like dinner at the White House with my family and my mother. That was an experience that I would never forget. Thanks to the many pictures that the White House escort in the red jacket took and gave us. I am writing this experience NOT to brag but to share the happy feeling and the great pride of being a Filipino-American. Happy 4th of July! God bless America!

Then, P-Noy's "no wang-wang or siren" directive caused him to be delayed to a meeting. Mali na naman! Then itong bagong Sec. of Ed. said something foul, hindi nag-iisip sa outcome. Sugod kasi ng sugod. P-Noy has to learn to think every step that he makes very carefully before executing. He has to quit being so arrogant, just because he has the sympathy of masses. Too bad, the office of the Presidency has become a training ground. I hope he's a quick learner. The future of the Country and her people are at stake here. And this is a serious matter. Charice Pempengco's rendition of the National Anthem at Pres. Noynoy's inauguration was very nice. Only those that do not understand music and the way music SHOULD be played or sung, would be the ones that might criticize her number. If Regine Velasquez sang it, it wouldn't have come out nicely because Regine's voice is so "matarling", pasigaw. Her voice is great for pop music. If Arnel Pineda sang it, baka na naman mahirapan siyang abutin ang nota. Charice sang the anthem with ease, and simple, the way a national anthem should be sung. Good job, Charice.

Only a few days as President, P-Noy seems to forget a promise that there would be no FAVORS given out. Well, well, look at his 'picks' for some of the Cabinet posts. It's PAYBACK time. Remember, he owes a lot of people a lot of favors and he has to reciprocate. I just wish he hadn't made that promise. He knew that would be difficult to follow through. We will see more of the same. We see this done Administration after Administration. Doesn't matter who the President is. It is done all the time, period. Imagine this. Pinoys born before July 4, 1946 in the Philippines are U.S. Citizens according to the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution. Too good to be true? Tydings-McDuffie Act (Philippine Independence Act) declared the Philippines under the act "shall be considered a foreign country". A good Constitution lawyer may pull it off. Tydings-McDuffie Act provides that "all citizens of the Philippines owe allegiance to the United States". Ditto with the elected officials of the Commonwealth have to take Oath of Allegiance and Obedience to the United States before taking office. Or close to that. They were Puno, Carpio and Renato Corona. (2) The Judicial Bar Council submitted the shortlist of names (besides Corona): SC justices Carpio, Carpio-Morales, Leonardo de Castro, and Arturo Brion and Sandigan Bayan Justice Edilberto Sandoval.

Lacierdo goofed big time on P-Noy's first memorandum and Luistro's excuse was "...bago pa lang ako". Bro. Luistro when asked by the media said "hindi yon talaga ang ibig kong sabihin." Wow, why don't you say exactly what you mean? Napikon ang dalawang Cabinet members. P-Noy cannot just give the Cabinet posts to people he owes favors to. Unfortunately theaters are driven by gross ticket sales and television by Nielsen ratings There are no Nielsen ratings for MORAL VALUES OR CONTENT. That is for the Church to worry about. I don't give a hoot if a show is too violent if I don't watch it.I'd rather get my education in school or online distance learning and even in "tuition free" academic playground in the streets (or school of hard knocks) where I could be viewed by my peers as street smart.

Again Deo keeps insisting "ONE UP: BTW, do not under estimate what a P5,000,000,000 (that is five (5) billion Pinoy macaroons) can do! Imagine this, if one (1) aluminum centavo can make tonyO just "nguso" you to 7gtng (if you understand what I mean), imagine what 5 billions can do. " I do know that's a lot of bull crap to poison your brain and to damage the environment (your family included). The impact will be so severe that even your grandchildren will be begging for mercy: " please save us from the harmful influence of our lolo."

The torch was passed! Congratulation to the new President! May you have a better treatment from the fickle citizens who expect their president to "walk-on-water" in governing and addressing the problems of the republic. May you be spared from the distractions of smears from your detractors and those who has presidential ambitions. May you be given the full support of the military instead of launching attempts of coup or spread the threat of o                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  ne that become fodder for yellow journalism. May you be judged by your performance- and not the spectre of rumors, innuendos, gossips and malicious planted petards of your political enemies. I wish you success in good governance

Acting like a fake evangelist Dragonslayer writes: "One Up must be ashamed of himself when he stated that "God failed to (sex) educate Adam". He probably read Genesis from the I-net and stopped short of "Who told you you where naked; you have eaten, then, of the tree of which I have forbidden you...." You're going overboard in your hypocrisy, boy." That was not education you are talking about, that was more of a divine warning. Education allows a person to make a mistake and the learner to rectify his error. That is why you are still a "C" student and never reached even a "B". Your school still loves you.

Dragonslayer writes : "Remember what the judge's adage: you don't have to think hard when you're telling the truth. " May I add (on my own) that you don't have to think at all if you have no brain. TAKE THAT INTELLECTUAL PUNCH BOY!

7 GTG and his OCWs point of view : "People here have life outside the forum.. they don't have time to analyze figures of whatever speech you are talking about. 'KISS' ikanga." I do have time and I don't need to figure out what FIGURE OF SPEECH is ( it is a no brainer). Some people can't. But your reply speaks volume.

Iahm Dhumb| History will judge Noynoy's administration not with honest intentions but with tangible or palpable results. History is too long to wait and good only for the historians but voters are impatient and want to write the history now.Unlike Dragonslayer who does soliloquy (talking to the wall), I say it "in Butikisalyer's face."

Deo writes : "I hate "singers" who actually change the original arrangement of the composers to the extent that it is no longer recognizable. Most American performers are worst in singing the Star Spangled Banner." I don't blame him. One of the traits employers like in hiring retired workers is that they are so predictable -they are boring. They like repetitive activities and hate technology or new ways of doing things (forget about creativity). WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE RETIRED AND RETARDED EXCELSIS DEO!

Banning the use of sirens (wang wang) or blinkers is a minor issue at all. The major issues are narrow roads, bad drivers, poor traffic enforcement and simply too many motor vehicles on the streets. In NYC we are not bothered by wailing sirens from EMTs, cops, and even firemen (and even screaming wives and loud Spanish music from the radios). The government will do a great disservice to Manila residents if it can't shorten workers' commute from house to office and back. So Dragonslayer, what is your original take on this proposal?
