By trying to demolish Grace Poe the Binay party of thieves are killing 2 birds with 1 stone. They negate Grace Poe's chances to run & beat Binay for the Presidency. And at the same time they divert the conversation to Poe's disqualification & paternity. The conversation should be focused on the Plunder & other crimes of the Binay Crime Family. And it should not stop until this malevolent & insidious criminal family is out of circulation.

I guess the real question is...are there any alternatives? In my opinion Poe is as good as you can get. Now, if I were to choose between Binay and Poe I would choose Poe.

I liked the pastoral letter read at the last Sunday mass. But it should be specific that the Pilipino voters should not vote for the names like, Marcos, Enrile, Macapagal-Arroyo, Estrada, Revilla, Binay and other corrupt government officials, lawyers and criminals. The names mentioned, used and manipulated the poor and uneducated Pinoys for decades. Pnoy's unfinished goal should be pursued. Put these plunderers in jail.

If a Dog could run for President & have a good chance of beating Jejomar Binay, responsible Filipinos would consider voting for that Dog. Which is why the qualifications of Grace Poe come as an afterthought in the present scenery. The Editorial is absolutely right. Who is Grace Poe & what's she ever done to be considered for the Presidency.? Answer: She has done nothing & she is still an unknown. So why are we even talking about her? Because of her winnability if she ever runs. This factor trumps all other qualifications in the present scheme of things. This is what happens to a country whose fate is decided by the D/E classes of
voters.

Grace Poe may not seek the vice or the presidency nomination for lack of residency requirement of 10 years. I would suggest instead Santiago despite her medical condition. She has not been involved in any scandal. She is abrasive and rude; she minces no words. We needed someone who will not soften her words just to please another person's auditory canal.

If you take the thief Jejomar Binay off the equation Grace Poe would not mean much. But because it's an "ANYBODY BUT BINAY" situation she comes ahead of the other aspirants. Because of the pervasive ignorance & indifference of the great majority of the Filipino voters only people with lots & lots of money to buy votes OR those with entertainment Pedigree would stand a chance of getting elected. Grace Poe is an unknown factor decent Filipinos & Artista worshippers would vote for THAN plunderer Binay. That is the theory. Would she make a good President? She is definitely another Aquino in the making. If you like Aquino you'd love Grace Poe. But then again, Anybody But Binay.

The Columnist Neal Cruz was right. Binay is nothing but a shameless coward. As soon as it became apparent that the Press Release of his hideous looking character assassin, Tianco, about Poe's qualifications would backfire, Binay immediately distanced himself. Then rendered a "naka-ka-iyak" version of his own adoption. The man has no redeeming values whatsoever. It really is unfathomable how some people can even consider voting for this Thief. He does not realize that it is he himself who escalates the political value of Grace Poe.

We often view a good leader as one who is autocratic. We saw that with Lee Kwan Yew of Singapore, Marcos of the Philippines, Genghis Khan, Napoleon Bonaparte, etc and most known dictators and conquerors. But to even wish of having such kind of leader, citizens have to give up certain rights and freedom they enjoy in a democratic form of government. What traits Filipinos seek as a good leader is not well articulated and defined when voters cast their votes every election cycle.

I'd rather have inexperienced Poe than jojo binay. So obviously you would prefer the experienced binay. We know that the two strongest candidates r Poe and binay. It's either of the two. You say no to Poe, you are saying yes to binay. lol.

Nope. Read our previous editorial on Binay LINK - PNL

The Editorial says, "If Poe wants to be President she must first show Filipinos she has what it takes". But that is the heart of the problem. How would Filipinos know what it takes? Who would tell them? They have regressed from bad to worse, then from worse to worst politically in the intervening years. Proof? The very people running their country. For as long as they follow their "Constitution" & maintain their system of government more & more Grace Poes will emerge. In fact 50 years from now if things remain the same in the PHL Grace Poe (assuming she is elected) & for that matter Aquino will go down in PHL history as "Great" Presidents. That's how bad things are in the country.

This recent editorial raised the issue of Grace Poe's ability to lead. PNL cautioned readers not so fast for Grace to become president. I asked : "what kind of leader does this writer have in mind? Is it the autocratic type (Marcos, Lee Kwan Yew, Saddam, Idi Amin, etc.) Is it the democratic type or participative type (the one we see in England and the USA)? Is it free rein or laissez faire? Or is it patriarchal type? Moreover, is this writer looking for a tranformational or transactional leadership ?What this writer cited as an example as a test of leadership was situational leadership needed in the Spratleys. That requires foreign policy decision that Poe is not allowed to exercise.

The fact that a rookie Senator without any accomplishments to speak of is being considered seriously for the Presidency bolsters the argument that Democracy is just KILLING the PHL. Imagine voting for an UNKNOWN just so a big thief & plunderer would not get elected. Is there any choice more NEGATIVE than that? The country needs a change of SYSTEM. If they insist on their brand of Democracy they will wake up one day to find a transgender comedian sitting in the Palace. Or the country occupied by China.

What did you think have happened if RPS del Pilar stood her ground and the Chinese Navy ship took a shot on her? The latter is known to be much bigger. Kung lalaban ka siguraduhin mong mananalo ka at kung hindi na you have created a situation where you will suffer beyond imagination. Compare about what is the situation now, America, Japan and Australia have unequivocally declared to defend the Philippines against foreign attack. China has to think twice of bullying the Philippines again and just yesterday offered to allow the Philippines joint use of their facilities. Hindi ba at the end ang China ang napahiya?

We should act swiftly by declaring Chinese government an enemy of the Filipino people and their diplomats in the country persona non grata and must be deported asap. Cut all ties with China ; economic, cultural etc. Ask USA and Japan and other Asian neighbors to make a war coalition against China. The president must do this before it's too late..!!! otherwise we will wake one day that Chinese nuclear warheads just deployed few miles from our shores. PNoy wake up!!! Red China is 3,033 km from Spratlys whereas Pinas is only 861 km from Spratlys. My opinion is that communist China's leaders led by their dictator Xi Jinping are dirty smart to CREATE artificial islands for the purpose of unilaterally de-claring to the world that China is just within the proximity of Spratlys and nearby natural islands. XI JINPING is trying to MANUFACTURE sovereignty!

If China and USA starts engaging in a hot war-- the Philippines will surely get the brunt and worst of the fighting.."My reaction: This statement is a prime example of a political attitude of liberal entitlement which is really based on cowardice and the denial of reality.... So now it's America's fault and we should do nothing in the process.. Heck, Can we at least get some effective weapons to protect the men and women in uniform? We expect the US to do everything for us... including sacrificing its young for our cause.. If you don't know how to die for your own country, How do you expect an American to die for you? This is not America's war. It is our matter and the Americans are merely standing by to support our cause.. Think about it.

Just as important as Japan in defending against China's intrusions is Australia. This great country had made it clear they do not feel comfortable with China's actions. But Aquino cannot do it all. For Japan, Australia & other SEA countries to band together they must see Filipinos fighting for their land. The Filipinos cannot present an appearance of nonchalance or defeatism because no one will bother to join them in any fight, much less fight their battles for them.

China will never start a war in the disputed islands in South China Sea. She will erxercise restraint. Vietnamese people fired on Chinese fishing boats poaching in Vietnamese waters. China left in retreat. Our own people should do the same to let China know that we are no pushovers. Aggression is frown upon by the community of nations. China has more to lose by pushing smaller nations like the Philippines. Let us shed some blood for the love of country. The world is with us.

It appears that, as early as the late 1930's when Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Japan threatened world stability, China, Iran, and North Korea are now on the verge of repeating that sad and bloody history. The democratic nations of the world must recognize this danger and must unite with the sole purpose of preventing another world conflagration with the use of more modern and utterly destructive weapons available by any aggressor and rogue nation.

The statement the UP Professor gave merely mirrors the fact that there is a desperate lack of talent in the PHL these days. Her statement was not just pathetic but insultingly opportunistic. Even granting that she was telling the truth must she phrase it in such a way that it is now the problem of the US & not the PHL? No wonder in the foreign press the PHL is hardly mentioned. She could have issued a call to arms not for the purpose of taking on China one on one but to stand solidly behind the US & the responsibility of standing up to China.

BANZAI! Now that Japan had made it official that it would partner with the PHL in its defense of maritime security it would be easier for other SEA nations to join this alliance. The only country other than North Korea that publicly sides with China is Cambodia. So if the other SEA countries pool their resources together they may produce a desired effect. Otherwise they will find their lands intruded by China one after the other.

We have always been passive and forgiving when dealing with China. I believe we have to draw the red line especially on fishing grounds close to our borders. We don't want to be seen as a pushover or a wimp. It hurts our national pride as Filipinos. In defense of our rights, some blood might be spilled in South China Sea. In the event that much blood had colored the seas, other nations will not turn their heads the other way. The world frowns on aggressors and sympathizes with the victims. That is an indisputable fact!

The actuation of the UP Professor pretty much typifies the attitude of the average Filipino. It is an attitude of helplessness & dependence on the USA. There is supposed to be e big rally against China on June 12th, Independence Day. Let us see how big it is & what they will say. But as we speak Filipinos are more concerned with the question of Grace Poe's paternity than China's intrusions.

The president's move is quite laudable since it is a sign of conciliatory stance with a nation of prior aggressors who inflicted so much suffering in the Philippines during the second WW. Still it is another sign of weakness in our ability to defend ourselves independent of outside aid. Let us take a look at history. Japan invaded Korea twice in the 16th century. Japan was strong but Korea was not. China will not invade the Philippines but will reclaim many of the small and disputed islands in South China Sea. China is powerful economically and militarily. Philippines is a weaker nation economically and militarily. We have over a 100 million lives to spare in defense of our sovereignty. Vietnam with fewer people than us drove away the Chinese when the latter attempted to place an oil rig close to Vietnam's shores. SAAN ANG TAPANG MO PINOY?

Any claim of ownership to any property or goods is based on possession. This is an old Scottish doctrine that China is using. She is building structures on some disputed islands in South China until ownership is challenged by the courts (in this case by the UN). The Philippine government should do the same and defend those islands (Spratlys) closer to her shores. If some blood has to be spilled so be it. That is the price of patriotism. The nine- dash line that China is using to support her claim of ownership is questionable, debatable and may not even be valid.

A Committee in the Corrupt PHL Congress passed a resolution urging that their Fellow Thief & Benefactor Gloria Arroyo be placed under house arrest. They must be doing these for sentimental reasons, recalling the "good old days" of envelopes stuffed with money distributed to them every time there was an impeachment case against Arroyo. Arroyo is being charged with Plunder. Not only was she not put in jail where she belongs. She was detained in a hospital! And now they want her to be more comfortable in a house setting? How about the crimes she had committed? How about her selling of the PHL to China? What a shameless, useless, Congress the PHL has.

The UP professor's statement must be taken as a "here and now" matter of factly speaking. It is true that the Philippines is weak militarily and even economically that it will not be able to sustain a defensive, much less an offensive, posture against Chinese aggression. With very limited maritime, air, and personnel assets of war, why even bother to participate in a shooting engagements with the two super-powers. Yet she did not opt out for a diplomatic talks. It's too early to call her as having an "asinine" position. She may prove to be in the right after all.

If 44 lives of SAF members were lost to get Marwan a known Islamic terrorist, we probably have to give up more in defense of our sovereignty as a nation in those disputed islands in South China Sea. China is intimidating and bullying smaller nations, throwing elbows and her weight around because it had achieved both economic and military power in the world and in the region respectively. We should not allow the ghost of the old fascist Germany to be revived and threatened the stability of the region. The nonchalant attitude of many Filipinos on those disputed islands is doing us more harm than good. Our sense of patriotism is being put on the line and being tested to rise again in the soul and character of China today. There is no nobler action to die as a patriot than earned the accolade of many by our eloquence. TALK IS CHEAP!

China as a the largest populated nation needs every territory to feed it's billion population. What made them strong economically are largely the capitalists west venture in China given the cheap labor & eventual market for the West in that stared in 80's. Now China is # 2 economically with less than 2 digit trillion $ economy seizing slots of Japan and many EU countries but still behind the USA 2-digits $ Trillion economy. Pray. That China & the Philippines as part of the greater ASIA to come to sit amicably to demilitarized the SEA SOUTH OF CHINA and the SEA WEST OF THE PHILIPPINES UNDER THE RULE OF LAW and as a BIG Communist country & Small Democratic country that can co-exist.

I do not agree with Aquino's comparison of China with Nazi Germany. China is much, much worse. When Germany annexed Austria & the Sudetenland it was to recover its losses in WWI. More importantly the inhabitants of those countries were extremely joyful at Hitler's annexation. China is doing what it is doing just BECAUSE IT COULD. The better comparison is the Occupation of Mussolini of Ethiopia. And there the world saw the helplessness of the then League of Nations who sat there and did nothing, despite the entreaties of Ethiopia's Emperor Haile Selassie.

Duterte is selling himself to others outside of Davao City not as a man who rules the city with an iron hand but rather as a compassionate leader who understands the words : " tapang and disiplina." A man who rules with an iron fist is an autocratic man who sees himself as a "punisher " and above the law. He is both the judge, the jury, and the executioner or the berdugo. Someone redefined the phrase " political dynasty" differently how people understood the phrase. To this blogger, Oligarchy did not apply to the Dutertes of Davao even if Rodrigo Duterte's daughter Sarah succeeded him after the former has reached his term limit. His son, Pulong is his vice mayor now in Davao City. He gave an asinine argument that Rody's successor was simply "continuing his work." Political dynasty is created by succession of power within the same family line, hombre! This blogger has his own lexicon.

It is unfortunate that this country, Philippines, has the slowest internet connection. Ours is some 3.2mbps vs. 122 mbps in Singapore. The irony is that we have good IT people. Our internet providers charge so much relative to other countries. For free Viber, net citizens had to shell out 50 pesos for 3 days. That is 500 pesos a month. We need a faster internet connection not only for personal but for business, for education, and for other purposes vital in today's age. We don't even have the infrastructure to bring people to work and transport goods for business. Instead PNoy is so obsessed with BBL, K-12, PDAP before and keeping Purisima retain his job, etc.

Regarding the proposal that Pres. Arroyo be placed under house arrest, it is sending the wrong signal to thieves and plunderers. Corrupt officials like her should be imprisoned together with the common criminals where she rightfully belong. She doesn't deserve respect accorded to good and honorable leaders because she's the worst of the criminals. We elected her to do the right thing yet she and her family chose to plunder money and resources of our country. It's like we are sending a wrong signal to VP Binay that he can also plunder some more because when he'll be charged later, he will also apply for house arrest.

We have progressed economically as a nation but we have also created a legion of politicians who cared more for themselves than for their country. We have sent Filipinos overseas (in USA and Canada) who find it fashionable to focus and highlight on our weakness more than our strengths. As an electorate, local voters have became infatuated with the likes of Erap, Bong, Jinggoy, Lito, Pacquiao, etc.
