Those Congressmen who signed the petition to put Arroyo under house arrest should all be JAILED along with Gloria Arroyo for aiding & abetting a Plunderer. This incident is another argument why Congress should be abolished or better yet scrap Democracy altogether. The underlying excuse for their petition is the pitiable physical condition of Arroyo. How about the pitiable poverty of the Filipinos caused by the unbridled graft & corruption in Arroyo's time? What kind of Justice is this? A non-bailable case being given house arrests. That is better than being granted bail.

Question about house arrest, I thinks it's okay so the govt. won't waste further expense for her hospital stay. Gloria Arroyo should not be referred to as President because she was never really elected by the Filipino voters. She was just an interloper who crawled into the Palace with the connivance of the Generals & the SC Justices. Have your read? Lawyers reportedly are zeroing in on Grace Poe's use of her U.S. Passport as late as 2009. And to add more meat to the issue it was indicated that these lawyers were supposedly "Deans" of Law Schools. They were trying to say that if Poe used her US Passport as late as 2009 how can she claim Residency if she runs for President in 2016? This is the opening shot of the 2016 campaign which promises to be as contentious and dirty as elections go in the PHL. What the Binay camp is saying is that votes for Grace Poe will just go to waste because she did not meet the requirements for the Presidency.

I think there is nothing wrong with having a neophyte as President as long as she/he has confidence in running the country .But from the beginning Sen. Poe seem reluctant to handle the responsibility by herself almost always mentioning Sen. Escudero to be as her preferred running-mate (or is it close-in adviser) if she eventually becomes president. We need a strong and tested and confident public official who is now ready from day one to face the challenges facing the country like the China and Muslim problem. Forget about Binay his candidacy is now a dying ember. My choice is Roxas, Cayetano or Recto.

Guys, why are we even talking about Grace Poe? Let's stop scrutinizing her to the nth degree lest she loses her strength to beat Binay. For that matter let's stop vetting all the other wannabes (except Joseph Estrada) for the same reason. Let's focus on the Binay scams & plunders. By saying that she will not pardon Binay in case she gets elected & Binay is convicted, Grace Poe scored BIG points in her quest for the Presidency. Also being the daughter of FPJ, the man Gloria Arroyo shamelessly cheated, we can assume that she would pursue the plunder cases against Arroyo and continue to detain her in a hospital instead of her house. Those factors alone should give Grace Poe a boost in her campaign. She is going in as an outsider who has nothing to do with the Old Boys Club.

No one can beat Filipino child-like anticipation and excessive guessing as to which would-be candidate will be best fit and why, when it comes to electioneering. People are quick to take sides even without being fully aware of the nation's real needs including the important issues at hand to be resolved by the incoming administration. Opposing quarters are grossly armed and ready to fight tooth and nail with mudslinging, character assassination, attack and counter attack. No wonder our election years are the most dangerous times in the country wherein some politicians resort to private assassins to get rid of their competitions and other detractors. Filipinos have to slow down and educate themselves well in the democratic process. With all the illegal military constructions of China on PHL land, you would think the PHL leadership would forget their political differences & close ranks on this issue. Well, what do you know? Thirteen PHL Senators signed a Resolution to declare EDCA invalid without the Senate's approval! As if these 13 Senators have nothing better to do. With "Leaders" like these how could you expect the average Filipino to even be interested in the China intrusions issue? And with "Leaders" like these who needs enemies? As a sovereign nation of this world, Philippines has celebrated it's 117th Independence from Spain. I was wondering why your editorial has no write ups with this important celebration highlighting important topics such as unity, one voice, one race and one goal to protect our freedom at all costs.
