Philippine Peso improves vs USD on lower non-farm payrolls in September '15

MANILA, Oct. 5 (PNA) -- The Philippine peso rallied against the US dollar Monday, in line with regional currencies, following the below-expected rise in US non-farm payrolls for September 2015.

It ended the day at PhP46.48, better than the PhP46.77 Friday last week.

A trader attributed this to the drop to 142,000 of the U.S.' NFP in the ninth month this year, below market consensus of 203,000 and the downwardly revised 136,000 in the previous month.

For the day, the peso opened at PhP46.65, an improvement from the PhP46.80 in the previous trading.

It traded between PhP46.66 and PhP46.47 resulting to an average of PhP46.58.

Volume of trade amounted to US$ 760 million, higher than the previous trading session's US$ 611.8 million.

For Tuesday, the currency pair is seen to trade between PhP46.40 and PhP46.60. (PNA)
