Applications for 2015 YSEALI fellowship programs now open

MANILA,Oct. 9 (PIA) – The United States Embassy Manila is now accepting applications to the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) 2016 Fellowship programs.

Academic Fellowships are intensive, short term programs in the United States that provide young leaders, ages 18-25, with a deeper understanding of the United States, while enhancing their leadership skills.

The application deadline for the Institute of Pluralisms is on October 14, 2015, while for Civic Engagement and Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Fellowships is on October 23, 2015.

Meanwhile, the YSEALI Professional Fellowships are for community leaders, ages 25-35, working in the fields of civic engagement, non-government organization management, economic empowerment, governance, legislative process or environmental and natural resources management. Professional Fellows will spend one month at a U.S.-based non-profit or government office to enhance their practical expertise, leadership skills, and professional contacts.

Application deadline for the YSEALI Professional Fellowships is on December 1, 2015.

Application forms and additional information can be found on the YSEALI page of the U.S. Embassy Manila website (http://manila.usembassy.gov/yseali.html).

Launched in 2013, YSEALI is President Barack Obama’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia.

YSEALI members engage with peers from around the country and around ASEAN to create local solutions to regional challenges. It provides professional and academic skills-building, and opportunities to put those skills into action through exchanges to the United States, professional development workshops in the region, online networking, and project seed money.
