Department of Foreign Affairs intensifies overseas voting awareness campaign

MANILA, Oct. 13 (PIA) – With more than two weeks to go before voter registration period ends, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through its Overseas Voting Secretariat, further intensified its overseas voting awareness campaign.

DFA, together with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement to enhance overseas voting awareness in view of the coming 2016 Presidential elections.

The agreement could further boost efforts in informing the public about the overseas voting system and procedures, and in emphasizing the importance of politically empowering Filipinos both here and abroad.

According to DFA, all Filipino citizens who expect to be abroad during the thirty day overseas voting period for the 2016 Presidential Elections (from 09 April to 09 May 2016) and not otherwise disqualified by law, may personally register as an overseas voter at any Philippine Foreign Service Post (FSP), including the three Manila Economic and Cultural Offices (MECO), 15 overseas voting registration centers (OVRCs) in the Philippines, or at other COMELEC-approved field/mobile registration centers.
