More flights cancelled due to super typhoon 'Lando' (Koppu)

MANILA, Oct. 18 (PNA) -- Bad weather brought about by typhoon “Lando” prompted the cancellation of 18 more flights on Sunday afternoon, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in an advisory.

MIAA said that a total of 24 flights have been cancelled as of 3 p.m. Sunday.

Among the flights cancelled were two international flights CZ 3091 (Canton-Manila) and CZ 3092 (Manila-Canton). Both flights belong to China Southern Airlines.

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific cancelled 5J 771 (Manila-Pagadian), 5J 772 (Pagadian-Manila), 5J 821 (Manila-Virac)5J 822 (Virac-Manila), 5J 504 (Manila-Tuguegarao), 5J 505 (Tuguegarao-Manila), 5J 506 (Manila-Tuguegarao), 5J 507 (Tuguegarao-Manila), 5J 887 (Manila-Cotabato), and 5J 888 (Cotabato-Manila).

Cebgo, formerly TigerAir Asia, cancelled flights DG 6113 (Manila-Naga), DG 6114 (Naga-Manila), DG 6004 (Manila-Laoag), and DG 6005 (Laoag-Manila).

Skyjet cancelled flights M8 816 (Manila-Basco) and M8 815 (Basco-Manila).

PAL Express cancelled flights 2P 2959 (Manila-Cotabato) and 2P 2960 (Cotabato-Manila).

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines earlier cancelled flights PR 2196 (Manila-Laoag), PR 2197 (Laoag-Manila), PR 2198 (Manila-Laoag), and PR 2199 (Laoag-Manila).

Meanwhile, delayed flights include 3K 763-A (Singapore-Manila) and 3K 763-D (Manila-Kansai, Osaka, Japan). Both flights belong to Jetstar Asia Airways.

State-run weather bureau PAGASA earlier predicted stormy weather over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras, Central Luzon and the provinces of Rizal and Quezon, including Polillo Islands.

Meanwhile, rains with gusty winds will prevail over the Ilocos Region, the rest of Calabarzon and the provinces of Marinduque, Camarines Norte and northern part of Mindoro, including Lubang Islands.

PAGASA also said that cloudy skies with light to moderate rains will be experienced over the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the rest of Luzon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Mindanao. (PNA)
