Inmate killed inside Bilibid's maximum security compound

MANILA, Dec. 7 (PNA) -- Another inmate from the Maximum Security Compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City was stabbed to death early Monday morning.

Based on the incident report, the victim was identified as Felicito Braga who was pronounced dead on arrival at the NBP Hospital.

The assailant was identified as his cousin, Jonathan Braga.

The incident took place at Dorm 12-B at about 1 a.m.

Authorities said that they are still investigating the motive of the killing.

This was not the first stabbing incident inside the Maximum Security Compound.

Last Nov. 25, an inmate's wife stabbed another inmate.

However, officials refused to give details of the incident.

Last Oct. 26, inmate Antonio Usis was also stabbed on the shoulder by suspect Allan Pinot using an 11-inch improvised icepick. Last Oct. 15, Edward Villanueva, a commando gang member, stabbed fellow inmate Cesar Aguilar over carpentry materials.

Before that, former Masbate jail warden Charlie Quidatu was shot to death by Ronald Catapang. Catapang confessed to the killing.

He said that Quidatu wanted him to throw a grenade at Commando gang elders who were having a meeting but he refused.

Authorities from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) are continuously conducting raids as part of its "Oplan Galugad" to rid the NBP of contrabands and stop illegal activities. (PNA)
