Over 100 countries commit for binding climate change deal

MOSCOW, Dec. 9 (PNA/Sputnik) -- The European Union and 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states agreed Tuesday that a climate change deal should be "binding, inclusive, dynamic and transparent," said in a press release.

"[The representatives of the EU members and ACP states] agreed that the 79 ACP countries and the 28 European Union Member States will push together for an ambitious agreement in Paris," the press release said.

According to the press release, the sides agreed that the agreement should be binding, inclusive, dynamic and transparent. It should set out a goal for the participants and establish a mechanism to enhance collective and individual efforts of the parties to the agreement.

The 21st UN Climate Change Conference is currently underway in Paris.

The representatives of some 200 countries gathered in the French capital to reach a comprehensive accord that would replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, dealing with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. (PNA/Sputnik)
