Typhoon Nona has weakened slightly and is moving slowly over West Philippine Sea

QUEZON CITY, Dec 16 -- Typhoon Nona has weakened slightly and is moving slowly over West Philippine Sea.

As of 10:00 AM today, the eye of typhoon “NONA” was located 90 km West of Ternate, Cavite

It has maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

The typhoon is forecast to move West Northwest at 7 kph.

Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) No. 2 is now raised over Bataan, Southern Zambales, Cavite, Batangas and Lubang Island

While PSWS No. 1 is up overMetro Manila, rest of Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Rizal, Laguna, Northern Occidental Mindoro and Northern Oriental Mindoro.

Flashfloods and landslides are expected over the areas under Public Storm Warning Signals.


PSWS elsewhere has now been lifted.

Meanwhile, as of 8:00 am, the Tropical Depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was estimated at 1180 km East of Mindanao. It has maximum winds of 45 kph and is forecast to move West Northwest at 23 kph. (PAGASA)
