A running deficit is how Gloria runs the govt. So how can you possibly boost the Phil economy? Ever since she took office there was never a balanced budget. Now the we're in a global economic recession there will be more problems for us. The only financial boost come from our OFWs. Our monetary policy is a sham. Most of the money goes to our corrupt & insatiable politicians. There are no regulatory agency to check it. Nobody to police the system. And all these with the tacit approval of the president. What a reeking deal.

To the best of my recollection, no Philippine politician ever admitted guilt and eventually resigned because of allegations of corruption. The Philippines has a long relationship with corruption. It is deep seated and so pervasive not only in public but also in private domain. Ethics, discipline, integrity, and responsibility have become extinct. They are "fossilized" virtues now! In every scandal, the defendant is always defiant. False witnesses always abound. The body charged to get to the bottom of any allegation of corruption shows a personality or image no better than a junta of thieves dressed in business suits and barong Tagalogs who speak in "accented" English. When the dust finally settles, no legislative follow up ensues.

We can definitely eliminate some of our nagging ethnic problems and shed some of our excess baggage if we can only rid ourselves of that obsession for sensual looks and and good appearances. It gets to a point where we want to be recognized as most gifted and most endowed and, all the rest are ugly and stupid. To be concerned with HONESTY is a good start but until we are able to master IGNORANCE in treating others, imputing fault and shortcomings is out of order. The basic unit of our society is fast crumbling down to indecency as we become insufficiently fit to maintain our national honor and, therefore must fear the prospect of the nation turning into a moral degenerate, thanks even to miniscule truth revealed by this article.

As long the economic and political gangsters hold a firm grip on Phil society, the unsavory and evil activities will continue unchecked and unrestrained. The system of check and balances don't work, with Senate scared of fallout, Judiciary under duress and Presidency ineffective. The military are bribed and the press are censored. The economic gangsters always have a heyday in Phil., society, holding mighty economic power. In poor countries, any group holding economic power are kings.

Filipino crews, my wife and I mingled with while we were at our 11-day Caribbean cruise, told us the bare truth: that one of the qualifications for anyone aspiring for public office is as professional embezzler and crook. They said no one in public office is to to be trusted fully; that whistle-blowers are usually people who want and wait for their turn at stealing from the treasury also. So, from the long line of Marcos, Estrada, Arroyo,......next degenerate, please.

Editorial sez: " highly-placed sources indicate that the Arroyo administration seems incapable or unwilling to curb its appetite for corruption. " Then of course, when GMA tries to clean the government- the cry is about her "being a dictator and has no respect for due process trampling civil rights"- Remember the case of Binay and his picture in Camouflage shirt? And, so who protected Lozada? And who has Jocjoc Bolante in their possession? And who convened with that Euro general first before he surrendered? Just who coddles those "corrupt officials" when they shout "political persecution?" Tama na nga kayo- just take a good look at the situation!

Nakaksawa na. Ok so most posters say: Phil. President is corrupt, senate is corrupt, congress is corrupt, everyone is corrupt. This is what your stand right? So let me ask you. Do you have any suggestion in mind what to do? No, don't give us that wishful thinking like 'dapat ipakulong, dapat death sentence.. etc. bec. these are dreams and impossible ones. Sometimes I have the feeling that we filams/filcans are scared. In these times of unstable world economy, we need to seek other countries that are in worse condition than what we will soon be in. It is the only way to comfort ourselves. So a corrupt Philippines is a good moral booster for non-Pinoy citizens.

According to the editorials said, "With the 2010 elections fast approaching, only time will tell if this administration can actually pull it off without suffering the same fate as that of the Marcos and Estrada regimes." I don't think this will happen because the two passed President are both "hilaw na manga" while Gloria is comparable to sweet "lanzones". In other words they are different bananas. Macoy himself plundered the country and ignored basic human rights, Erap is guilty as plunderer. While Gloria is just an innocent and who believes that improving economy is the best policy. She was accused 20 times of wrong doing but nothing was proven to be true. All accusation is just hearsay and all of them will not be accepted in court of justice.

cont' I noticed that all the accused corrupt officials of the land are all from different presidency, from the pass, present and future will be the same. In order to cure this poison in Philippine politics, we should enact the law that will make them think twice before they commit corrupt practices. What about death penalty for plunderer! There is always negative ratings for Gloria, who cares for the opinions of 1,500 people it is not election season? The main thing is if our economy can stand the tumultuous world problem is good enough for Filipinos. Another Edsa will kill the Philippines, this is just for the good of those who hated the present government but not for all Filipinos.

Our cynic president knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. There are so many who can figure costs & so few who can measure values. Her only obligation is to make herself rich. She has a secretive team who are experts in siphoning the Phil treasury & many behind close door deals & illegal gimmicks. With the many allegations we see the outlines only. Nobody really knows these anomalous transactions. The urgent need for fairness & transparency is gone. There are only 2 standards in the Phils; one for the wealthy & one one for everyone else. We have the legal tools to stop this crime but don't bother putting them in use. Our senators should spearhead the next crusade of bringing the corrupt to face justice.

Sen. Enrile, the veteran public servant, is now the Senate president. Villar got the boot cuz of the C-5 controversy & other anomalous deals. Sen. Enrile will be a good senate president cuz he wants to uphold his own legacy. Honesty & transparancy must prevail. All these govt secret deals must be exposed. The work of the senate panel on this two corrupt ones are highly commendable. Once showboating & grandstanding are all eliminated, we'll have a true forum in seeking the truth & finally punish those who failed to do so. May the Almighty help us.

Now that the coming month is of caring & sharing, Christmas should be a joyous time for everyone but the blessings of the holiday season will once again be an unhappy memory to the poorest of the poor in the Phils. A very sad acceptance many times over. Year in year out this is the awful truth. Food & how to get it is the only thing foremost to these people. With such a high unemployment in the Phils it's a big strike against them. If bishops say it's in the hand of God for He will provide, our parishioners should be thankful...but it's just a myth. PNL should initiate a Christmas drive from all posters world-wide. Set it up & we'll donate.

Within our (PI) government, we should stop condemning people we don't agree with and refrain from vindicating those whom we favor based only on what we read or hear. Majority of us do not know the full story; games and dramas are being unfolded and being played; can any among us say for certain what really transpired yesterday or what episode will be next? If anyone can speak with certainty, it will only be a full-time and fully-engaged watchdog. Our comments are not just empty phrases devoid of meaning. Dear 7gtg, Why buyers think imported vehicles better? Me 1st. Cars I owned: 57 Chevy, Chevy Nova, Chevy Malibu, Ford 150, Ford T-bird, Ford Sunliner convertible, and Dodge Charger. All constantly needing repairs. Very unreliable. After, that I switched to a Toyota Corolla and Mazda 626, and had been happy with these vehicles ever since. On my last oil change on the 626, tech told me that both my CV boots are cut and need to be replaced ASAP. $445. I lucked out on EBay, & got left&right axles for $45 free shipping. Didn't have to pay $445. Installed them myself. Other than that, and sensors I replaced, and the regular maintenance, I love these imports made in the USA.
