Name: Jun Canlas CommentsPNL's asks: "When will the Catholic Church ever allow the Philippines to control its runaway population growth?" Why does Gloria Arroyo have to ask the Church's blessing to put in place a much needed birth control program to halt our rapid population growth? The Catholic Church has no business in the affairs of our government because there is a separation of Church and State in our country as provided by our Constitution. The problem is Gloria Arroyo does not have the vision nor the guts to put an effective birth control program in place for fear of displeasing the powerful Catholic bloc. For as long as Arroyo is RP's President, expect our population to spiral out of control and half of our population to live in grinding poverty.
Name: Liza CommentsThe short answer to your question is no. Hard to say more than what must be patently obvious. And it would probably require a King Henry VIII-like figure to change things, to carry out a Phil. version of the Reformation. The church would let the pious believe the aim is the conservation of the human beings, when humans are not the only inhabitants of this planet. Ideally, the country would need its hot-blooded, testosterone-laden citizens to stop breeding for a few generations to bring the population down to a manageable level. But of course, that’s purely wishful thinking on my part. Name: DAVIDA CommentsThe Church should financially support the family if they don't want them to use contraceptives. They're just full of talk without thought or emotion. The Catholic Church is too narrow-minded. Big uncontrolled population cause family breakups, starvation, crime, epidemic of diseases, etc. etc. The people should just use their COMMON SENSE and not listen to dumb advice of the Church. This is the 20th century!!!! Name: Lagalag CommentsIf this is the CBCP wants walang problema iyan. Provided mag-open sila ng mga Adoption Centers in every province. So that they can take care lahat ng mga baby na mapapanganak na hindi kayang mapalaki at mabigyan nang magandang kinabukasan ng mga parents. Hindi ba ang dali nang solution? kasi lahat ng mga bansang mayayaman may mga family planning iyan how much more ang Philippines! By the way Catholic din ako. And I go to church every Sunday. And I always pray na ang mga tao sa Pilipinas na bigyan ng makakain ng Diyos three times a day lalong-lalo na iyong mga walang trabaho at nagugutom. Name: GFJBHEDF CommentsIt's time people stop these "Roman Catholic bullies." They are like neighborhood gang lords, threatening with rallies, excommunications and no communions to heretics. Threatening the downfall of public officials, politicians and institutions. The reproductive bill shows that the country is fed up with the Roman catholic yoke that has oppressed the Filipinos for almost four centuries. No mass! LINK Name: 7gtg CommentsWe bash our kabayans back home for being poor, for being corrupt. Then recently we bash them for their faith in their religion. Some posters even condemn the Filipino for being religious. Typical 'financially-independent' Pinoy posters from abroad are ever looking for a chance to declare their being an atheist. I see a kind of childish rebellion. After all, all of you ageing posters were 'forced' in some way or another to go-to-church as children by your parents. So thank's to PNL now you can express your grievances. Name: JDLC CommentsThere is is saying that goes "It is easier to move a mountain than change the Filipino nature run by the Catholic Church." Once they believe in something they will not change no matter what happens. How can the country's government improve the the quality of life of poor families, how can the government improve their economic inequalities? One solution is birth control, but in the Philippines it is different. The Catholic hierarchy is stopping the passing of bill on family planning, birth control, possibly sterilization in the poorest areas of population. Most of the countries run by Catholics mainly in South America are very poor of course mostly due to lack of good policies on population control, we belong to this group of poor nations. SAD. Name: Edward A CommentsI love the Philippines. I was home recently to visit my father's passing. Anyways, I was surprised by their growth in numbers. There were just people everywhere, no matter what time of the day it was. All of us know that it is just getting so crowded in the cities. More population means more demands for basic necessities and less opportunity for a better life for each one of us. Like too many seeds in a pot, we are gradually choking ourselves to death if we don't somehow control our ever growing population. Do our other Asian countries have problems similar to ours? Name: Jun Canlas CommentsAside from corruption, RP's other major problem is over population. With two million more mouths added to our population yearly, our rice production just can't keep up. To make up for the shortage, our government is forced to import 10 percent of our rice needs yearly. Even at current population level of 90 million, millions are already malnourished, how much more when our population hits 170 million after 27 years, as projected? The result will surely be catastrophic. What does the Catholic Church do, now that half of our people are impoverished due to its misguided policy that birth control is a sin? Zero. The Catholic bishops tell their flocks, as usual, to be steadfast and pray hard. Name: deo CommentsTalagang marami ang mahihina ang kokote dito sa forum lalo na iyong sinisisi ang religions kaya nagdidildil ng asin ang karamihan ng Pinoy. Pinoys just like any people in the world are not fanatics anymore when it comes to religion. Check this out: Pinoys are now 85 million. Take any given Sunday of, say, from Iglesia ni Kulafu to Iglesia ni 7gtng (in between of course are the big time religions). How many are attending services in their respective churches all over the country? 5, 10 million? Those figures are kind of high, right? Not really! Where's the, say, the 75 million? The 75 millions (excluding the bulilits) are the doubters, the non-believers and the outright irihis! So why blame religion if the majority of Pinoys do not go to church? If you understand what I mean. Name: Oiginal Manilenean CommentsThis bashings against the catholic leadership is biased. You have to realize it’s the married people’s responsibility to do their family planning regardless of church rules. Why single out the Catholics? Are other religious sects exempt from the rule? I’m sure most understand that the root of the over-population problem is lack of education (or people just don’t give a damn) the negative consequences of their uncontrolled sexual desires. Oversized families who can't support their kids w/ basic needs, are being punished enough for their poverty. It’s the gov’t responsibility to take corrective action w/ assistance from catholic leadership. PNL could contribute to solving this problem by offering solutions rather than criticism of Catholic rules controlled by the Pope in Rome. Name: peacelover2 CommentsI think the blame has to be on the Pinoy men, the machismo, the controlling attitude that is so wrong is what's getting us all in trouble.... in the Philippines men rule..women have almost no control over their body after marriage, men do. They think of their wives as property and think they can toy with them, use them anytime. I bet you, most of the men are not willing to put on that condom..it's silly but it's true. They think it would gave them less pleasure... there is also that mentality that a bigger family is better which is not always true. They think having a big clan gives them power. it's a horrible way of thinking but it's true. it's absolutely the man's fault...Pinoy men! Name: Pollenator CommentsThe church (catholic or others) can only teach precepts and dogmas but can not enforce its teachings to the laity. Each member has the responsibility and option to practice abortion and birth control which the church teaches as evil deeds. But there are adoption and abstinence or periodic sex as alternatives to control population growth. It's therefore an individual's call, not church doctrines as the culprit to over-population. People and poverty in Pinas are the results of mismanaged national programs and misbehaved leaders. China allows one child per family or couple, yet it has 1 billion Chinese with no church role. The paradox is, Pinas is church-centered but morally bankrupt. Name: xcel CommentsFriars then had "Sayaw sa Obando" to molest women, now the priests have "Sayaw sa Kumbento" - to molest boys! Name: JGF CommentsRobin Padilla endorses the ARMM automated polls through 'komiks'. Whether automated or not, elections in RP is a comic. Either the candidates or the voters or the endorser. In this case, Robin Padilla .... .... Name: GFJBHEDF CommentsHUNG UP ON PREVIOUS TOPIC: On this wise I am not with PGMA's endorsement to postpone the August 11 electronic election in the ARMM towards a Muslim homeland. I am instead on the side of comelec to push thru with it. Otherwise, the agreement, struck between Gov't and MILF, after years of violence and 1000s of deaths will continue, perpetually hampering peace and economic progress. LINK Name: Manuel C. Diaz CommentsTo Andres of Stinking flooded Metro Manila if the majority of the Indios are not SABONGEROS how come there are sabongan in every nook and cranny of islas de Ladrones. There are more Sabong Halls than all the churches combined in Islas de Ladrones. Mang pedong will first go to Church light a candle for one peso and pray that his fighting/frying cock will win then he'll bet his farm. Name: Manuel C. Diaz CommentsTo 1 d la X d 111rd in the land of the unemployed, slave wages are better than no wages at all. You see in the Islas de Ladrones the reason why most businesses do not pay decent wages is they have to pay the kotong cops, Military check points in every corner of the Islas, the governor gets his cut, the Mayor gets his cut, the Barangay Captain get his cut, the BIR get his arreglo, the Customs get paid for not opening the imported van. The laborers you pay them decent wages they will demand more and will strike at a moment's notice sponsored by the KMU, AHASU, and all militant labor so where will the businessman go? Di cut corners to survive. That is the reason why Sulpicio loaded Endosulfan in The Princes of the Stars. The problem, na buking! Name: artcabarlo CommentsNow it is known that VAT has more advantages than disadvantages. Those politicians who are against it please explain to us why you are against it. Congratulations to Senator Recto, Senator Gordon, De Venecia and others whom I don't know. I hate flip-floppers like Senator Roxas I don't like a president who don't have principles. If its good for the country do it. Senator Recto you are the man. Please keep up the good work and we will help you. "Thank you" also to the President. Please use our money for the best. Name: Max Soli-Benz CommentsI observed that Sabong is very popular to many PNL posters. For those who want to learn more about Sabong and the thrill that it gives to many people, I invite you to read an article on Sabong at WWW.GINTONGLAHI.COM. Please enjoy. Name: Max Soli-Benz CommentsHermie, Prosperous Pichay is living up to his name. He is a well-known Trapo, a gambler and a rich businessman. He has penchant for money... taksang money. He knows that billions are in the OWWA, especially at this time. Let's watch him.... he is as greedy as his benefactor. Name: mockingmaya Commentstotal revolution of Cavite: Most people of Mindanao are not born to rebel against a legitimate government. And majority of individuals are not born with revolutionary blood in their veins and should not be treated as terrorists for shunning militant measures. Name: MANUEL de LADRON CommentsAndres, lahing ladron ka rin pala. ERAP Bong REvilla TANDEM is a joke if you took it seriously you ought to be taken into the intensive care unit of a mental ward. Vote ERAP sa MAHIRAP for President and Bong Revilla as vice president ONE OF THEM might be your father. Name: Manuel C. Diaz CommentsTo Andres of Stinking Metro Manila if you want to ask GOD questions you relay the questions to me and I will go ask GOD for the Answer. If you ask GOD directly, GOD might get annoyed and might turn you into a monkey. So better be safe. Name: Max Soli-Benz Comments"Pakain ng kutong money".. or Kinakain mo galing sa pera ng taong bayan." He, he, he, once a professor of Tagalog 101 is now demoted to Tagalog 001. "Kutong" in Tagalog is "kuto" (with "ng"), iyong nagpapakati sa ulo ng tao (whether in the lower or upper heads). The right word must be "kotong" (which may mean: "katok", "lagay" or "kinurakot"). Ilocanos pronounce "kotong" as "kutong". In Tagalog, they have different meanings. If the guy is an Ilocano, I could understand him, but the fellow is from Mindanao and Canada and a professor himself.... he, he, he. Name: Max Soli-Benz CommentsPlaridel Joaquin, your "Currency 101" lesson to Edward said it all. His asking which currency one should prefer to have, dollar or peso, does not really matter. Edward should know it, if he is a smart fellow. Obviously, Edward is trying to lookdown on our Philippine peso. Name: Max Soli-Benz CommentsLoren Lee, so a new president is like a hungry crocodile? Then what about a current hungry, corrupt na corrupt president? Crocodile na walang kabusugan? He, he, he. Name: fil/ams CommentsWatch guys this kids did a great job! LINK. Just for laughs!
