Thank God for this great Pope. But as much as he shows concern for our world and environment he can only appeal so much. It is really the people who populate this earth who can stop its destruction. I wished the Pope named the 2 worst polluters of the planet. These are China and India. Driven by profits & the need to feed their tremendous population not much attention is being given to the world's atmosphere. If the scientist are right a colossal catastrophe is in the making. The word 'environmental' is too complex for majority of Filipinos. Let's start with the term 'toilet tissue' or to make that even easier, 'toilet paper'. That every public and private institutions and buildings, including stores, malls, and restaurants must provide a*s wipes to the patronizing public. When we achieve this at last, then we can go farther on the subject of making our environment friendly and forgiving. For now we must start on a CLEAN slate if you get my drift.

If you look at the Esteros in Manila you will not readily understand how Filipinos can live that way. The black water that seems so thick like molasses, the tons of waste floating in it, the putrid smell. It is so unbearable. But they have become part of the Metro Manila setting. The country is besieged with so many pressing problems to address the question of environment & sanitation. Typhoons & floods will be occurring more often. They said that part of the PHL will be claimed by the sea because of global warming. But all the people can do is talk about it. Like waiting for disaster to happen.

Use the word "evil" to characterize those people who knowingly and carelessly do damage to the environment for their own selfish ends. The word "destructive" more aptly describe the various ways we can harm our surroundings. Although to this point in earth's history every earthling can be held liable when planet earth becomes so polluted it cannot support healthy life like it used to. I don't pretend to be an expert on this subject but from what I have gathered so far, this planet have existed for millions, if not billions, of years and I know it's not about to end tomorrow or for another billions. Let's not get excited about new rules; just make sure we all learn from past mistakes.

When it comes to earth-shattering revelations and scapegoats are needed to hang, people are quick to point at one another to ascertain there are culprits. The environment hangs in the balance and it is said to be being victimized by careless human polluters who counters that this is the result of industrial and technological progress need for human survival. What we should do instead is put the blame aside, stop pointing fingers and try to teach to and educate each other on how we can improve the ways we can improve and cure the ailing ecosystem. God said, "go multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it". I really believe the word "subdue" here means 'take care of it'.

Again this editorial piece is directing its serous accusation to the wrong country. The 10 most polluting countries are China, USA, Russia, India, Japan, Germany, Canada, UK, South Korea and Iran in that order. The pollution index in the Philippines is 78 against China of 90 and we are closer China. Chinese wear surgical mask as they walk on the streets; we don't! As to typhoons, we don't have control over the water temperatures of the Pacific Ocean and China Sea. We are between these two great bodies of water. Come on. Let us put an end to this country bashing! Looks like we have not done anything right. We magnify and over amplify our shortcomings.

Philosophically and rhetorically argument, yes the bottom line plants and animals (we are included) that survived in our Mother Earth for millions of years bit by bit or silently vanishing and extinct. And all these pollutant refused matters from all different kind of chemicals will just keep building up to the extent that plants & animals can't breath or be poison/die. And philosophically speaking again I don't believe that Planet Earth will be damage by all these kind of pollutant, the earth has have a very strong immune system "hehehe" The earth survived for billions of years to formed and be inhabited by all kind of living things,and human existence in this planet earth has an end, you don't know when, but it will come. PNL is making an unfair accusation that Philippines and her people have no respect for the environment. Long before others were using fuel alternatives, we were using LPGs in motor vehicles. Like in Canada, certain stores in Manila bag their groceries in paper bags. Environmentalists are alive and active now than before. The fact is: China and USA are the leading polluters in the world. The pollution index in China is 90, 100 in Afghanistan vs.75 in the Philippines. This article is rich in condemning the country and very short in facts.

Gloria Arroyo should be very thankful that she is in hospital arrest rather than in Jail the Administration is still very lenient to address the predicament she created let alone corruption and her episode of lies. The President should not be swayed by giving her chance, let her pay the price even for a short time at any rate she is not bothered I believe, because she is anticipating come 2016 after the President's term she will be freed by the new Administration. I hope the people learned a lesson this time, they should be wise enough to vote for the right candidates.

Why not publish the names of the Tongressmen who signed this resolution on Arroyo. Why don't we abolish the lower house and just have only senators voted by regions only say one senator for East and one for West Northern Luzon, one for East /West Central Luzon and so on and so forth. The lower house is an unruly chamber. And why not abolish the Party-list? They are just adding to the list of unnecessary expense of the government. Remember Rep. Ridon's accusation on Sen. Drilon which was proven to be a total nonsense?

The crime of Plunder is a non-bailable offense under PHL law. So why is the SC asking the SandiganBayan to explain why it rejected Arroyo's plea for bail twice? What is the SandiganBayan supposed to do? Isn't it enough that the crime Arroyo is accused of is a non-bailable offense? So if the SandiganBayan said NO to Arroyo what is there to explain? Here is another example of "Technicalities". Why don't they just call it for what it is - PALUSOT.

A blogger asked me why I said that the Congressmen petitioning for Arroyo's house arrest be jailed when they did not commit any crime & Arroyo has not been found guilty yet. My Answer: I was being SARCASTIC because that is all anyone can do about a Good for nothing Congress. Morally speaking their very existence in the country is a crime because they are known for being Thieves. Technically Arroyo has not been found guilty yet, which is why she will never ever be convicted at all, because of the Filipinos' penchant for technicalities. The crooks use it all the time to make fools of their country men. Then they ask what's taking the govt. so long in trying Arroyo? See the vicious cycle?

What is the brouhaha if there was a congressional resolution coming from the house suggesting that she be confined under house arrest. This woman has never been found guilty of the charges? Why the double standard when Erap was placed under house arrest in Tanay after being found guilty of plunder? Erap was in good health; Gloria was in bad shape with cervical issue. Could we not have a discourse on something more relevant than house arrest?

About the GMA issue-- was Gloria Arroyo been legally convicted so far of whatever "accusation" of plunder and corruption hurled at her? I do remember reading that many of the cases that were heard by the court were either dismissed or she was found not guilty. Of course-- that is beside the "CONVICTIONS" from the media and this forum!

Sending Gloria on house arrest will save the government money in terms of food, accommodation and even security. If the government feels she is a flight risk, place a security ankle bracelet on her. There was one blogger who would like to send those congressmen to jail for making an opinion expressed as a house resolution. That is a clear violation of freedom of speech.

Like any other plunder cases, all start would start with a complaint, then a formal indictment in court. The accused is placed under the custody of the court with no bail. Gloria is charged with plunder but not found guilty with the charged yet. There is nothing wrong if it is opinion of the house of representatives to suggest house arrest because of her fragile health . Erap was found guilty of plunder. He was placed on house arrest for 5 years in Tanay, granted executive "pardon" and elected as mayor of Manila. What is uproar on this house resolution?

The woman has not been charged with anything! Where is the justice in that. She has been accused, tried, found guilty obviously (by who? definitely not a court of law) because she has been under arrest. I don't know but I am a great believer of justice. Let me quote "We should never allow anyone to punch a hole on our flag or constitution lest that hole be used against us someday!"... Maybe Grace Poe is as honest as Mar Roxas. But who is the most experienced politician serving our country?. Grace Poe has not even finished her term as senator. People just admire her because of Fernando Poe and she being famous in the senate. The survey ratings can be a fake information... whatever means. It's like in showbiz. But, Mar Roxas is well experienced and has a mandate to act as president. I don't agree to Poe's ambition to become president. Despite the results of the latest survey Aquino seems to be pushing for Roxas still! Well, Aquino's stubbornness may just prove to be his undoing. All the Filipinos can do now is just to ignore him in his endorsement and vote for a winner - Grace Poe. Imagine if Binay wins just because Aquino insisted on fielding Roxas. As it is Binay does not seem to stand a chance. Of course he could cheat. But that is something else. The danger is that 2 candidates Poe & Roxas running and splitting their votes against Binay. Now that the latest survey shows Mar Roxas still in distant 4th shouldn't somebody tell Aquino that running Roxas for President will only serve to benefit Binay? If Aquino insist on fielding Roxas despite the latter's obvious unelectability and Binay slips through then it will be a mistake and disservice by Aquino that would be much worse than Mamasapano. A Roxas candidacy can only take votes from Grace Poe. Binay has solid following that would go with him to hell. Even if Grace Poe withdraws Roxas will still lose. Who is Atienza anyway but a failed ex-Mayor of Manila? Isn't this guy a most loyal follower of Gloria Arroyo? Why should it matter what this guy thinks? What's he ever done for the PHL? It is now that sensible Filipinos should continue highlighting his crimes even more with no let up. Keep the conversation going about his Plunders. In a sense Binay is right.
