We must not forget that this hero stole $10 Billion. His family must admit the fact that he's a tyrant, a thief, & eliminated the opposition in cold blood.

Marcos is now buried and folks no amount of yelling and screaming will change anything. Remember this, winners write history and the second you folks allowed the Marcos family back into the Philippines they won as far as history is concerned. My advice is forget about it and concern yourselves with the new mad man in power. He is taking the country to places it has never been. He is taking all of you to places you never been before. A country of mass murderers. You voted him into office. His approval rating is over 90 per cent. The world is watching.

The Supreme Court's decision to grant the burial of Ferdie Marcos at the LNMB will remain to be a bad taste as far as the whole country is concerned. The permission doesn't bode well with the idea that this hallowed place was designed to honor our countrymen who have sacrificed their life's value and honor while serving our country. At the end of the day, there never will be any value or honor that we can attribute to such a man of low caliber.

I had the privilege of serving with US Peace Corps (Philippines) during the period Aug 73-Nov75, a period under President Marcos's Martial Law. I lived and worked in Tarlac, the home of the NPA. President Marcos was fighting a communist insurgency; he promoted land reform and created programs where independent farmers could receive loans to plant modern varieties of rice, since in Manila at the time there was a shortage of rice as demonstrated by long lines to purchase. A midnight curfew controlled a criminal element that preyed on innocent citizens. In the provinces local politicians had private armies that subsidized their livelihood with extortion and other illegal activities. Cattle rustling caused local citizens to dismantle bridges from rural areas to nearby cities so cattle could not be herded to local slaughter houses. While the Philippine Constabulary was somewhat corrupt, it was far more equitable than the outright corruption of local politicians, police and bandits. Through the entire time, I was always amazed at the resilience of the Filipino; and their ability to remain calm, kind with a sense of humor was a constant enigma to me. But it has endeared me to the Philippines and the Filipino people until this day; I only hope the regime of Duerte does not damage the relationship with the United States so badly that there is a separation between our nations and mutual interests.

I think the Supreme Court's majority opinion in Marcos burial case has created a dangerous precedent that the young generation of Filipino students will eventually accepted: If the children of the Filipino people would emulate the late dictator Marcos, as their national hero would be akin to emulating the Youth of Germany & German citizens when they projected Hitler as their Fuhrer. I think this is one of the most dangerous doctrines of the Marcos dynasty: the burial of the remains of the former dictator, Marcos, has restored the cult of Ferdinand E. Marcos wicked personality to his [or its] place of honor: the cult of the heroic golden age of the Marcos dictatorship. This exaltation of Ferdinand E. Marcos of Batac, Ilocos Norte, Philippines as a hero proves that the Filipino people have been trapped in the ignorance of mass society, if you will. I think to support the Supreme Court's opinion in Marcos burial case is akin to supporting the book burners: "words which may outlive all the other spoken or written..."

Someone said, "Marcos may be able to buy his way into a heroes cemetery but he can't buy his way out of Hell!" My reaction: I agree.. Even in Hell, he will campaign for its leadership by offering the devil an offer he can't refuse.

I guess those advocating the punishment of the Marcos family, should include the Generals and JPE for their atrocities of the ML. I believe that Marcos should not be punished alone but the other loyalist who implemented the very harsh laws of PDs as approved by the dictator. I believe that there are still Generals and other soldiers who are still alive smiling because they are enjoying their powers of the ML and yet they are scot free. How about the cronies? Not one is in jail. Holy smoke. And BBM and other government positions? They have the guts to ran for national positions and making lots of noises. In Shalla, time will come that Filipinos will see these people punished.

Someone said this classic dumb statement, " I think the SC Justices decision to bury the remains of the dictator [Marcos] in the shrine for heroes will not further honesty, transparency, accountability, justice, integrity, & life." My reaction: The SC does not decide for anyone.... and honesty, transparency and accountability is more on the side of the administration not the Supreme Court. They interpret the facts and they attempt to implement what is just according to the facts available. Now, Marcos is not a hero, and I really believe he has terrible offenses, But he was given the honor because the Filipino in general FAILED to prove otherwise... and how long has it been? Three decades? So blame the Filipino in general... Whining idiots like you! It was the SC who made the ruling, but it was Duterte who maliciously executed it. If there were factors that should have been considered against the SC ruling, That is Duterte's job and went along with it for obvious reasons... He believes and even justifies tyrannical leadership. Perhaps he got freebies along the way.

I even doubt if there is the body of the dictator in that coffin? Remember, the Marcoses are Master of Deception. Hoping that the Philippine SC will make a ruling to open to the public the casket of the Dictator.

I'm truly tired of reading articles like this one regarding the Marcos clan and the problems they caused both to the country and the people. Marcos, like the name Kardashan are synonymous: so annoying, worn-out and commonplace they turn me off and make me like throwing off whenever I see them in print. Can we wipe this name out completely from history books. please?

Re: Attention Filipinos who voted for Trump..You voted against your own interests.. Pres. elect Trump has identified the Ph as a potential source of terrorists because of our Muslim population in the south.. What is the cause for concern. Unlike the dems who emphasized equality. The GOP or many of them want a white only America . The immediate thing Trump would do by mere Executive action is to lower the number of visitors from nonwhite countries for example the Philippines. Why do you think there were very few Filipinos in the USA before 1965? Because during that time USA preferred immigrants from Western Europe.

Someone said, "Legal category is not only the basis of political legitimacy, for instance, there is an independent, traditional & exclusive form of governance, which is affiliated with legal authority. And you don't need to be a lawyer & a product of elitist school to discern the fundamental types of legitimacy." My reaction: Then why are you blaming the Supreme Court for balancing the merits of the case? The SC made the ruling.. It was Duterte who executed it. By face value, Marcos fought in the last World War and for that reason, you should be grateful because of which you are capable of doing what you doing at present however stupid and pathetic. Marcos was a soldier at a time our country fought a foreign invader. For that alone, whatever he did as a President is no longer the issue... Unless we can prove that everything he did as a soldier and then a President as farce... The trouble is no one could... For three decades! So everything else is just plain saliva.. because we as a people, neglected the danger of establishing his false legacy.. Worst, you and your likes voted a whacko for a President who idolizes Marcos for his brutality. Don't blame the Supreme Court, blame yourselves!

I think the author of this article [PNL] is aware of the inconsistency of Goebbels's propaganda, for instance, his failed propaganda against the Young plan [1929], the Presidential Election in the US [1948], so on & so forth. But his propaganda of success was followed by propaganda of heroism in Stalingrad. Why? The son of the dictator, Marcos Jr. did not win the war of vice-presidency, but the fanatical followers of Marcos regime were able to transform his political debacle into victory when his father remains were interred in the national heroes cemetery: propaganda of heroism. I think it is a dangerous illusion to entertain the assumption that "all propaganda evaporates progressively when it ceases to exist." I think the fact remains, when dangerous ideas or ideologies were neglected to be challenged by Filipino intellectuals [or those vigilant Filipino intellectuals who're trained to think critically], Philippine democracy would be doomed, or democratic "society would be crushed by the weight of collective mediocrity."

A message to the millennials anti Marcos. You don’t have monopoly of history. The Pilipino people are no longer easy to manipulate in believing your side of history. For thirty years the aquinos have a locked down control of our history. It is written by the victors of EDSA people power. And taught in schools as the truth. But what about the history on the side of the marcos regime and the silent majority. If you think by participating in this anti marcos rally that you are doing good thing for the nation you are wrong. You are made to believe in yellow lies. This rally you participate serves only the cause of the elite and the leftist. who are forever against any regime except maybe their own regime if they ever come to power. And they are those who doesn’t really care about you. Please don’t be a fool wasting your time and effort helping this people destroy our nation. Just study hard and be a god fearing , law abiding citizen.

I don't know who's the writer of this but "ten's of millions?" come on! There are only about ten thousand people in the rally at EDSA Shrine and the Government categorically said that Marcos is not a HERO but he is a former president and a soldier just like what the Supreme Court decision. Please don't make this a big time cause if you can't move on. Just don't write anything cause it's killing our own country.

Someone said, "What would the Filipino parents, leaders, intellectuals & Supreme Court justices tell their children about the Marcos regime?" My reaction: Simple. If you neglect your own identity and disposition as a citizen.. This is what happens... The Villain will be regarded as a Hero and a monster-killer moron gets elected as a President... Marcos is not a hero in as much as Duterte is not a capable Presdent. Duterte is truly tasteless and callous... Marcos was an intelligent dictator while Duterte is a closet tyrant... Marcos was ousted. Incidentally, he was buried in the grave of heroes because no one continued to fight this dictator and his minions to the very end... as his false legend was hoisted with false honors.. This burial is the very symbol of the Filipino's lack of identity and neglect of his own pride.. It is the symbol of the Filpino, "Nignas Cogon" attitude. That's how simple I will tell the future generations about this lost mayan group of people.... More.... I will not hesitate to tell the future generations that it truly sucks to be a Filipino. It really sucks.

Someone said, "Someone's statement calling us stupid Filipinos you will soon eat your words. I hope that you do not tell it face to face to any Filipinos you might meet no matter how big you are he will he will kick ur as* no matter how tall you are." My reaction: Whoever said that, I will gladly tell him he's right. I am a Filipino and I know I am not stupid for saying so.... but for the Filipino people to keep making the same mistakes again and again... Electing monsters for public positions... I think the word stupid describing the Filipino in general is an understatement. Actually, I should say this, It's really embarrassing to be a Filipino. I am not proud at all... Just consider this, How many Filipinos do you see urinating in public against street walls? That is just a start.

Someone said, "This Rodel Rodis don't know or understand the Constitution and the laws protecting the "freedom to a peaceful assembly, etc., etc., etc." Mr. Rodis put this in your kokote that this Lewis is an american and she should not meddle in the affair of the Philippine government." My reaction: Rodel Rodis, a lawyer in America, doesn't understand the constitution? Think again. You can't be a lawyer if you have no familiarity and ability to interpret the Constitution. Just how can you perform the job of a lawyer if you can't use the constitution as a reference? You clearly do not know what you are barking about. It is you who is in question because this is not even a matter of the Constitution at all. Think!!! Is there a law prohibiting Ms. Lewis, a Filipino American, in conducting her humanitarian efforts? Why should the law penalize her when she has done nothing wrong? Is protesting, Meddling? and secondly, there is no law prohibiting her freedom to conduct her humanitarian efforts? In the meantime, your monster President is conducting summary executions of people perceived as drug addicts without the issuance of warrants and investigations... He is clearly a Human Rights violator and from his political pronouncements, He is very clearly like Pol Pot. Are these acts constitutional? Rodel Rodis, like i do, has witnessed the perils of the Marcos dictatorship.... and quite frankly and presently, Duterte being a closet tyrant... Mr. Rodis has helped a lot of Filipinos here in the US and there in the Philippines.. His political lineage is different from mine. I am a conservative, he is a liberal but for you to say this guy doesn't know what he is doing is really the reflection of ignorance and stupidity. Where is you sense of Humanity?

Someone said, "I think President Duterte is a passionate & honest public servant; he is a man of action in history...." My reaction: I think you are dumba*s. That's for sure. Duterte who treated Drug Addicts as animals rather than victims... Passionate? What a Macabre logic you have... Think! How many Drug Lords has he captured compared to the 4000 people he killed? Kerwin Espinosa? This guy is having his day in court while those Drug Victims persished... just like that. How many parents, wives, sons and daughters have been hurt by these actions.... Honest Public Servant? Are you telling me he has no malicious shading on the Marcos burial issue? He is now in cahoots with Gloria Macapagal... Honest? He considers Marcos as his hero.. What does that tell you? This person decides who dies and who lives.. (very similar to Pol Pot) and you consider him a servant? Are you on drugs? Are you nuts?

Duterte said the following, "“The human rights (defenders) said I ordered the killings. I told them ‘OK. Let’s stop. We’ll let them (drug users) multiply so that when it’s harvest time, more people will die,” My reaction: What an ignorant statement. The Drug industry will die if the public will cease to support it. There has to be a partnership between the public and administration to lead the fight against drugs... Secondly, Drug Lords should be the ones to be taken down. Not Drug victims. If we can only stop drug users or victims by simply killing them.. That shows two things, The source is still alive and kicking but is simply hiding for a good a business day someday... and the administration is weak as it can only confront the defenseless and the victims. Duterte is a very weak leader.

Facebook is destroying democracy by Richard J. Heydarian [see MB: Opinion/ posted 12/03 2016 @ 11:33AM]. I think Noam Chomsky, a professor of Linguistics at MIT, will educate an intellectual like professor Heydarian about the role of intellectuals in a democratic regime: "What we often find is that the intellectuals, the educated classes, are the most indoctrinated, most ignorant, most stupid part of the population...They're the ideological managers...The propaganda that they developed is that they are the natural leaders of the masses." I don't think that technology [i.e., internet, face book, etc.] will destroy democracy. In fact, well-known journalists agree that there is a great promise of internet: it promotes democracy.
