Marcos was buried in the Hero's cemetery but that doesn't mean he is a hero. He was buried there because of political maneuverings and most of all, because of our negligence as a sovereign people. For thirty years we had the opportunity to petition a motion to investigate the excesses of the Marcoses but nothing transpired. Nothing was ever attempted... "Papatay-patay" and therefore we got caught flatfooted.... and the lull provided the opportunity the Marcoses are waiting for. Just recently, The former President Ramos implied that the assassination of Ninoy was actually concocted in Malacanang. Hence, He even implied Imelda has knowledge of this which includes the declaration of Martial Law...LINK but he never came out to bring this in a court of law for an official investigation... so the public can obtain an official statement on Marcos... What about the atrocities of General Fabian Ver? Had we pushed this issues for the sake of verification in order to guide today's so misguided youth, then we could have prevented President Marcos from being buried in the prestigious cemetery. Do not blame the SC, do not blame them for making a ruling. There's two parties that should take the blame and that is us, the Filipino people, and the current President Duterte for his insensitivity, maliciously scheming the event, his negligence in studying the issue and terrible arrogance.

This renewed arrogance of the Marcoses was the result of Bongbongs' winning votes that almost led him to be VP. Robredo's performance was enormously affected by the votes of 3 other Bicolanos vying for the VP position Escudero being the strongest one having been the early favorite in opinion polls to win it all. Trillanes and Honasan were not that strong There was a total of more than 700,000 .that these 3 garnered that could have surely been taken away from Robredo. Any percentage taken from this total could have given Robredo more substantial lead on Marcos. So so much for the arrogance.

With all due respect, if you really deserve any, Let me quote you [someone], The son of the dictator, Marcos Jr. did not win the war of vice-presidency, but the fanatical followers of Marcos regime were able to transform his political debacle into victory when his father remains were interred in the national heroes cemetery: propaganda of heroism." My reaction: The son is not necessarily the father or vice versa.. assuming they are both the same, Bong Bong Marcos almost won... and that alone is a shame. Secondly, If you are talking about fanatics of the late dictator himself, Why are you excluding Duterte... You condemn communism yet you support this self admitted socialist. I really think you don't know what you are talking about. You are simply guessing like gypsy pretending to be intellectual.

An avid fanatic of Duterte said, "If the children of the Filipino people would emulate the late dictator Marcos, as their national hero would be akin to emulating the Youth of Germany & German citizens when they projected Hitler as their Fuhrer." My reaction: Duterte himself was a big admirer of Marcos. You are against the young emulating Marcos, yet you don't say anything against Duterte admiring him? You are one pathetic hypocrite for sure. Marcos did not resort to summary killings.. and he is not a Monster. Duterte did resort to summary killings without respecting warrants and regulations like Habeas Corpus..... So I am not surprised if History will decide Duterte is more horrible than Marcos.. LINK

Re: Filipino voters of Trump..Now reality will come when Filipino voters of Trump realize that the new President -elect has in fact identified the R.P. as a potential source of terrorists considering that less than 5% of our population are Muslims. True we have millions of Filipino Muslims in the south, however, there are very few of them who are Jihadists. Those who voted for Trump didn't understand that there is a wing in the GOP who believe that the USA belongs to Whites only. and the nonwhites are supposed to leave voluntarily. These are the followers of Richard Spencer the neo Nazi who copied the Hitler salute, I hope you have seen them of TV.

Someone from LA county said, "Re: Attention Filipinos who voted for Trump..You voted against your own interests.. Pres. elect Trump has identified the Ph as a potential source of terrorists because of our Muslim population in the south.. My reaction: Well the truth hurts right? What can you do about it if that is the truth? alter it? Fact of the matter is, The prevalence of kidnappings in the southern part of the Philippines is a well known fact... You want Trump to sideline this information? Philippine leadership does not know its priorities... Instead of hunting and killing these animals.. We are picking on drug addicts and that is very ridiculous.

RE: Martial Law.. The FM style Martial Law would no longer be imposed because even if you stop the circulation of Independent Newspapers, close operation on all opposition Radio & TV, there is still the internet and other social media. The Filipinos now are not afraid of the imposition of Martial law like the Executive Order 1081, 44 years ago. But the effects of martial law are already present opposition being killed without any punishment for perpetrators. How come the person who masterminded the Killing of Mayor Espinosa was even reinstate. He killed a man who was in custody with no means of retaliation as he was in detention. That is a blatant violation of due process rights, unfortunately now the President bragged on TV and radio that he does not believe in due process. If you allow tyrants to rule you that is your fault you have to have a people power to stop the shenanigans.

Someone said, ""What we often find is that the intellectuals, the educated classes, are the most indoctrinated, most ignorant, most stupid part of the population..." My reaction: Anyone who justifies killing 4500 people for mere suspicion without respecting their right to given a certified warrant of arrest is one simple jackass. Anyone who justifies this is a monster. Ignorant? Educated? What gall you got to say this about yourself. WE ARE NOW THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD... SOON WE ARE GOING TO BE BIGGEST MACABRE SOCIETY IN THE PLANET. Duterte is not an intellectual. He is a tyrant. He has no sense of civility and decency. With just one conversation with Trump he does a 360.... As he was put on the spot to defend the nation against China, He does a 360... What a Political jerk this guy must be... Then he blames the yellow as he turns to the red?

Someone from LA county said, "... The immediate thing Trump would do by mere Executive action is to lower the number of visitors from nonwhite countries for example the Philippines. Why do you think there were very few Filipinos in the USA before 1965? Because during that time USA preferred immigrants from Western Europe." My reaction: Your statement is so disgusting. "Lower the number of visitors from non white countries?" Illegal immigration has brought us two major problems.. Terrorism and Welfare.... Trump is approaching immigration in terms making America safe, and putting a stop on our deficit which widely attributed to illegal immigrants. Why are you emphasizing racism? The Democrats created a farm of voters like you even without regard to the deficit of the nation vice the little they contribute to the economy, let alone peace and order.. but they will get welfare for as long as they vote for the dems... So who is enslaving who?

Handbook for dictators by Randy David [see Inquirer: Opinion 12/04/16]. I think it is common knowledge that people don't know much about dictatorial regimes, for example, how they emerge & how to control them? The normative aspect of dictatorial regimes have been overlooked by scholars, for instance, how dictators behave? What are the techniques being used by dictators to maintain their power, to extend their power & to demonstrate their power. There is a grain of truth that dictators operate by command. Is there legal procedure to remove a self-appointed Filipino dictator? According to a scholar, "in a dictatorship, everything that's not forbidden is compulsory." Remember that a democratic regime, according to W. Churchill, is the worst possible political system, except for all others, why?" Why was the Marcos regime very effective in consolidating & accumulating support & loyalty among the Filipino people? One simple answer: "The simple way to obtain the support of the military, police & loyalty of the group is to overpay them excessive wages." Scholars argue that this is akin to capitalism. You can obtain the support of the businessmen by giving them monopoly privileges. The overpaid loyalists of a dictator are dangerous followers of a dictator, why? Of course, the most effective instruments of a dictator to maintain, accumulate & demonstrate power are loyalty & repression. But remember that the people who have a tendency to commit an extra-judicial killing & repression are the followers of a dictator at the bottom, why? They committed human rights violations & heinous crimes because they're only following the orders by the people at the top. This is the same theory that the apologists of Nazi regime in Germany defended: "We only acted under orders." This is the reason why dictatorial regime thrives. It is not easy to find anyone guilty under dictatorial regime. I think this is also the reason why the cronies of Marcos regime who were allegedly accused of committing crimes were beyond the reach of the judicial system. Remember that "the followers of a dictator are rational & normal human beings; they are motivated by self-interests." The command model is only an excuse to escape justice. Scholars agree that this is the best way to understand dictatorship: "Bureaucracies don't compete each other, but bureaucrats compete each other. And remember that the followers of the late dictator Marcos were rational, normal & well-educated."

The war on Drugs. When a Mayor is shot while in custody ordinarily, the Policeman or person on whose watch a person is killed then those officials are immediately suspended pending trial. Not in the case of the current President, I still have to see a policeman or any one for that matter who kills another person who is unarmed and made to answer for it. Instead of moving forward the peace and order situation in the P.I. has regressed. Now there is an order of full alert in the Philippines. When a prospective tourists sees those headlines what do they do? The bypass the P.I. and proceed to visit other Southeast Asian countries. The only tourists left are former Filipinos who are now Citizens of the U.S. or Canada.

I think some critics must understand that any Constitution---even the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines is not perfect. Supreme Court decision [i.e., constitutional law] can serve as a moralizing agent in society. Why? It is common knowledge that the Constitution is also a source of "symbolic legality" [i.e., the ideological beliefs & values of society]. It is not only about right or wrong & good or evil. The Constitution serves people's expectations about justice, fairness & unfairness. In fact, a legal scholar has recognized that the Constitution itself rests on a level of fairness & unfairness, for example, the "symbolic legality is rooted in ordinary people's concept of fairness & unfairness [see, the "great cases or hard cases or trouble cases, & the invocation of commonsense unfairness & not the legal cite."] You don't need to be a legal scholar to comprehend that hard case troubles jurists; it creates conflict, division, & even revolution. Does fairness remain an elusive dream of democratic citizens? I think the Filipino people have a right to examine the Supreme Court's decision on Marcos burial case for elements of prejudice or biases that might have crept into Filipino jurists opinions. You have to penetrate the cry of [it is unfair or it is injustice] unfairness if you would desire for a better world to live in." I think freedom of expression is also about "connecting with our inner authority & listening to it even the external authorities oppose it." We have to explore the ideas or opinions of the Supreme Court jurists because SC justices are also human beings who sometimes failed "to renew their oaths of fairness." Plain & simple.

Someone from LA county said, "... Unlike the dems who emphasized equality. The GOP or many of them want a white only America.... My reaction: You are full of misinformation. If you will study the history of the Democrats, the KKK spawned from this organization.. It was the Republicans who liberated and recognized the dignity of non whites. Do you realize "equality" can be very oppressive when you use it measure humanity? I don't want equality... I want the freedom and liberty that will allow me to realize my potential where i can work in an environment where profit is recognized as incentives and not performed with greed.... If the GOP is about White America, How do you explain Ben Carson now being the newly appointed secretary of housing and urban development... Do you know a lot of black folks are homeless for so many generations now? If Trump is racist, He could have appointed a racist white personality in this position. Stop using your emotions. You liberals always cry racism whenever things don't go your way. Well, you had your way for the last 8 years... Where is the country now?

Re: Killings which happened after the President took his oath up to the present..We are supposed to be a country ruled by law.. The death penalty hs been abolished by a previous President.. How come thousands upon thousand of Filipinos has been executed since this new president took his oath of office. Under what law are they being executed. One Senator said that the killing of Mayor Espinosa was a rub out now are you going to do something about this. I understand the CIDG official responsible for the killing of Mayor Espinosa was reinstated by the PNP brass, now what kind of government do you have where the citizens are just cowering in fear. You might be the next person to be executed.
