My reaction: There's three approaches Tyrants normally apply to implement their cause.. 1) Consolidate the Military and make sure of their loyalty 2) Purge your enemies or group of people in order to establish fear which will then lead to control. 3) Propaganda, in order to justify these excesses and to break friendships with major parties that can influence opposition. I went to Hong Kong as a gift from my parents when I did very well in my board exam. I ran out of dollars because of a very small budget and tried using my peso in 1984 (still Martial Law). Nobody was a taker of my money and I was left hungry abroad and has to cut short my vacation. Come, 2013, same scenario but different president. I ran out of small tenders and ask the plane steward if they would like to accept my pesos. The steward was so ecstatic to accept my STRONG Philippine pesos. Come 2016, will this be Deja Vu of the Martial Law era? Wake up Filipinos, there is no Ilocanos, Ilongos, Davaoenos. All of us are Filipinos. We must love our country and protect it from abuse. I think this article exemplifies the writer's glittering ignorance of the power of symbols in politics. I think this article is a classic work of a lawyer's or journalist's or propagandist's wounded ego or pride. He prefers to engage in stereotype journalism; he doesn't take the trouble to discern himself---his ideas are like a ready made judgement transformed into prejudice, slogan, label, so on & so forth.
